how to get screen out of ceiling vent

We have a regular ceiling vent where we would otherwise have an air conditioner. We would like remove the screen and put something to insulate the opening but can't seem to get it out. My husband got recessed screws out and the opening knob off . . . but that screen didn't simply fall into his hands as we hoped Any advice ?

The vent that Escape uses is a Heng’s model but they are supposedly universal with Ventline. Maybe this video will help...

If you’ve removed the two screws and crank handle it might just be a snug fit in the enclosure.

Thanks so much! Sure enough the video showed that the entire outer trim needs to be removed in order to get the screen out. Well, we simply reoriented our thinking to "leave things alone" !!!

With all the Covid-19 plexi-glass barriers being used by businesses, the local glass installers had a scrap lying around that was just what we needed. It's held in place with two strips of velcro and there is room to lay some bubble wrap between the plexiglass and the screen. Hope I can add photos here. We think this fix will help when we visit our daughter in Vermont before the warmer weather.

Hi: Omi... I went to the building store and bought a cheap flexible insulated ceiling panel for a suspended ceiling. Cut several layers and friction fit them into the opening. Haven't looked up there in years. Just one more covid casualty!!! Alf

Well, you just brought up a question that has been on my mind . . . what about the jiggle? Your ceiling tiles never fall down during travel? Being first-time trailer owners, our biggest surprise was how much stuff is thrown around back there. I still get a kick out of looking back and watching our "Jiggy Rig" jiggle down the road . . . it reminds me of the old cartoon with Mickey Mouse's trailer . . . and cute as that all is, every modification makes us wonder if it'll survive.
