Humidity

Met another Escape owner in a campground. They told me that humidity is a problem in their cabinets so they leave the doors open. Anyone have issues with this?

We haven’t experienced that yet while camping. We do open everything up when the trailer is in storage.

I live in a rain forest and have never left my cabinet doors open.

Maybe this applies to areas with warmer and more humid conditions. Definitely a non-issue for me.

We always leave our cabinets open in storage and closed in use. It doesn’t matter if we are in the rainforest, Arctic, desert, or Midwest. Airflow is a good thing.

Hi: Crows Nest... My wife uses $ Store air driers in the closet. They're ok as long as you don't spill the moisture they collect. Place them in some kind of pail just in case. Alf

I'm wondering under what conditions they are experiencing humidity? Like, do they get humidity when they are camping in cool or cold weather, when the camper is in storage, or what?

It would not surprise me if they are getting humidity when camping in cool weather with the windows, vents and MaxFan done up tight. We get humidity showing up in those conditions too. We need to keep some airflow in cool weather so we leave a window &/or vent open, or an exhaust fan running in order to clear the humidity.

We also leave all the cabinet doors, cupboards and drawers open when the trailer is in storage.

Living in Florida, I keep my trailer “buttoned up” when it is in storage. I keep a compressor dehumidifier on the counter and run its hose into the sink drain, with the gray water dump valve open and with another hose connected to the drain cap. The water is deposited on a nearby landscape plant. Humidity is set for 45-50%.
As I feel “sticky” when humidity rises above 50%, I have a Peltier type dehumidifier for when we are using the trailer. It is half the size of the compressor unit. It will quickly attain 50% RH when we arrive at a destination and easily maintains that level throughout our stay. Even if it is cold, I do not open vents or windows to reduce humidity; it’s not necessary.

I could use some humidity right now.

-3F outside, at early evening, and indoor humidity is 32%, with 5 humidifiers running, 2 ultrasonic, the others evaporative types.
Cold air is dry air. My fingers crack to the point I can't use them.
Gimme some humidity! But not too much.

I've had 2 HVAC guys look to install a furnace humidifier and they say there's not space for one between the existing furnace plenums.

A Dry January for me.
