Thank you Eggscape. I had watched the video earlier but wasn't sure if that unit that that guy installed in his motorhome was what the tech support at Airxcel was recommending to Kathy and Peter. Thanks for the clarification. I agree with you - not good. They should make them with a built-in 12V regulator... Wish products like this were engineered better. -Bea

When I gave Airxcel our serial number they told me which version we have - we have the 3.8 or the A version. We have a 2019 21. The voltage regulator is something that we have to install ourselves, ETI does not do that

Hey guys, I had the same issues with mine. A $6 voltage regulator solved the problem. But just FYI, I have an extra circuit board for the fan that I have never needed to install, so if you need it contact me and I'll mail it to you.

Conformal coating. Learn something new everyday, thank you. I imagine this would void the warranty but the upside seems well worth it.

Thank you 31ndone! We should have our new circuit board from Airxcel late next week. Also, Airxcel supplies most of the RV places and with their recent container shipment it’s possible that these will be in stock in the usual places soon.

Maxi Fan Reset

When our maxi fan quit working on our 5.0 we did a little research.
We found the steps to reset the fan control board.

1 Disconnect the trailer from shore power.
2 Turn the Battery Isolation switch off. (The isolation switch for our 5.0 was under the rear dinette seat)
3 After a minute switch the battery isolation switch back on.
4 Plug back in to shore power.

For us the Maxi Fan now worked.
This procedure worked on our fan, I’m not saying it will work for everyone but it’s worth a try before replacing the control board.

Connect voltage controller to output side of fuse/cb box?

Could the voltage regulator be connected to the output of the fuse/ CB box which would then regulate anything connected to that circuit?

Yes…as long as the draw of the items attached does not exceed the rating of the regulator.
You need to know what is powered by that circuit. For example: I would not regulate the power required to operate the power awning. It should be on its own circuit…but is not…that is another thread.

Had the same issue last year ... fan came on in the middle of the night and we couldn't turn it off without turning off everything. Called Airxcel and they shipped out a new control board with conformal coating already in place (they claimed all their boards come that way). Had it installed and, knock on wood, no problems since. The solar issue is a new one to us.

Sure, it could be done for all the DC circuits. Just make sure the regulator is able to handle the amps on that circuit.
