When I'm remembering them I think more of 'WHUMP, WHUMP, WHUMP' of the engines. Now the door gunner, he was going 'BUDDA BUDDA BUDDA' .

We fit Gatling style door guns on our Griffins (Bell 412) for use in the sandbox, so more of a buuuzzzz now.

We had 'Puff the Magic Dragon' C-47's and C-130's with Gatling's. They were a real welcome sight for a foot soldier.

Has it really been 55 years? I've turned down two chances for a tour to go back. Can't see the point for me.

I was never in the service, but in the mid 1970s, there was a SFO Helicopter service that ran a shuttle from SF Airport to a couple other points around the bay area in some shaky old big beast of a post-WW-II copter, I rode that several times from SFO to Sausalito and back so I could visit my family when I had a layover in SF en route back from a business trip. ahhh, Google tells me they flew S-61's which were the civvy version of a SH-3 Sea King.
