New generator for AC

Just got the Honda EU2200i and can’t get the AC on? Dometic 11000 btu. What am I doing wrong. I’ve turned everything off. Panel shows E 2. Using 30 amp cord with adapter for 120 outlet. Honda says it should work. 106 in Seattle for a new all time high!!!

Do you have and have you installed a neutral grounding plug in the open receptacle in the generator? There are other threads that discuss this procedure and reason why it is necessary as well as the installation of a soft start capacitor device as is sold by MicroAir. This works in concert with your EMS and allows the EMS to “take the horse” when the compressor engages.
Check out the previous forms if you need to learn more would be my suggestion.

Or do what Reese says in the video. Turn your EMS ( surge protector) to bypass and trust your generator. Works great for me.

Thanks guys, I’ll try the bypass today since I’m home with nothing turned on. I did order the neutral ground too.

I knew about the Bypass on the EMS but I don’t like to do things like that personally so I did not encourage it. I suppose it would be fine but at my advanced miserly age I don’t usually take chances when I don’t have to. Best of luck however you proceed.

E2 is Open Ground. Sounds like you are on the right track with neutral bonding plug. Bypassing the EMS as a short term solution is of no consequence unless you happen to have an issue with your generator producing proper power (low probability).
