Potential Inverter damage

If your inverter is mounted on the floor, any potential water leak will probably destroy it.
My Samlex 1500 inverter was floor-mounted less than a foot from the water tank filler hose.
There was no clearance between the inverter and the floor, such that enough water seeped into the inverter circuitry, corroded and finally shorted out many internal components to where the aluminum heatsinks melted and burned some of the motherboard.

No inverter should be mounted in such a hazardous position or location. Please have yours checked out and remounted. Simply raising it a mere half-inch would have saved it. I suggest mounting inverters vertically, not against a solid surface for maximum cooling and safety.

I'm sorry to read of your loss, that's a bummer for sure, but thanks for sharing your experience to benefit others.

That's probably good advice for any electrical component, folks just need to be sure to respect any component manufacturer's specific installation recommendations (some are particular about orientation in consideration of their passive and/or active cooling schemes).

Unfortunately, some RV manufacturer's don't themselves adhere to component manufacturer recommendations or best-practices in OE installations - it can bear checking and possible correction.
