That is true. At least they are out of the sun but they will need replacing at some point.

The hoses will eventually need replacement, but is any Escape old enough for that? In any case, these (usually called "pigtails") are common and easy to replace.

Lost My Propane Tank Cover
Coming back from Chilliwack we were crossing Nebraska. I heard a noise, then another. Checking the mirrors I could not see anything amiss. At the next gas stop the tank cover was missing. It was a windy day, 20-30 mile head wind and we were driving into it for over 200 miles. It must have worked its way up and then flew off.
My most disappointing thing is, I had taken a can of Dover White paint spray and had already made it a nice matching cover.
I would recommend some method of securing that tank cover. On my 19 I had lost the lid to the cover, fortunately you can order just the lid, but since then I have used fiberglass tape to add a level of security to the lid. With my replacement cover I will go with a shock cord and S hook to assure retention.

Bummer Paul and Janet! Someplace here on the forums is a thread about how to secure the tank cover. Maybe someone that's done it can point you in that direction so it doesn't happen again

When I picked my trailer up I mentioned to Dennis that I wanted to install a wind deflector on the canopy. He mentioned that others have done that and it creates a low pressure area by the propane tanks and that can cause them to levitate. He recommended if I was going to do that to put a bungee cord on the tabs that are there for that purpose.
I just did several thousand miles without incident, no wind deflector yet, but it seems like a bungee might be cheap insurance.

I have a re-usable zap-strap that goes down through a slot in the top of the cover, around the handle and back up through the slot, where it is fastened.

Multo-Bummer on that fly-off. Like the bungie solution-- or simply using the tabs underneath for what they are there for. Simple and sweet.

I have painted the cover to match the trailer too. I just might attach a bungee cord to it before heading out next time.

bungee hole tabs? I'll have to go look. I drilled a couple of small holes in the bottom so I can wrap a bungee from one hole, down under the trailer frame, over to the other hole. Where are these tabs and holes I missed?

I drilled 2 holes and ran a bungee strap underneath, did this to both the 19 and 21'. See post #13 here http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f8...-a-1657-2.html

Just checked and my propane shroud has two tabs down underneath, front and back. Looped rope through them. That shroud is grounded.

The new covers, at least our new cover, did not have the tabs. Our 19 cover had the tabs and a shock cord threaded around the frame. I have some good ideas from everyone's posts on how to fasten the replacement cover.
