Replacing flexible pipe that vents the grey tank

We just bought a new-to-us 2017 21C. After bringing it back from BC to Calgary, a funky smell began to permeate the trailer. After sniffing around, checking a bunch of things and reading the forum, we believe it is the grey tank vent (the one that starts under the furnace and goes up through the closet and microwave cabinet). Seemed to have been a common problem with this year's model change - and we read almost every post we could find here!

My husband went and took off the plumbing vent cap on the roof to check that and was shocked to see that it is a flexible hose, unlike the black tank's solid ABS. Now we want to change out the flexible hose to a solid PVC hose. Has anyone done that mod in their 21C before? Sorry if there's a post about it in the forum, but I just couldn't find it!

Before changing to rigid PVC, which would be a major job, check the seal between the flexible hose & the trailer under the vent cap. Speaking from experience, if the seal isn't perfect, gray tank gas will find its way into the trailer.

If it's a green and white hose it's pretty sturdy and well suited to the job.
