Stowing gear at home
How do your organize the things that go in the tow vehicle when you travel for storage at home? I have sort of a plan but am looking for good ideas as I get the garage sorted out.

This is what we use. Unfortunately our neighborhood has a rat problem, so we can't store anything in it that is fabric or in a cardboard box. They will chew through the box to get to the nesting material. So we store our water jugs, our portable dump tank, Honda generator, grill and similar items. We don't take all of this stuff on every trip. For instance we haven't used the generator in two years.

Hmm, that's not a bad idea- storing outside the garage. I've been thinking about adding a bicycle shed but the bike could stay in the garage if all the camping stuff was out.

I just put this together last week as our garage is getting crowded and I need a place for the over flow- mainly the snowblower and lawn mower. Now I have more room for "camping stuff" in the garage........ All resin and 7x4

I have a number of large plastic tubs with lids that I keep all of the to go stuff in. This includes water jugs and generator.
These can be stacked in your garage, or barn in my case. What works will depend on your tow vehicle and at home storage. Try not to have to resort everything each time you go out.

I store all my stuff in the trailer. I have no garage, no basement, no room in the house.

most of what we bring in the truck is long/big stuff , like a 10x10 popup, rolled up carpets, chairs, tables, and then my astronomy gear. big cooler, 1-2 5G water bottles in milk crates.
all the trailer stuff, like dishes, cooking and coffee making equipment, etc lives in the trailer.

I have maybe 5-6 chairs which I only need 2 if we are solo camping but will bring 4 more if we camp with friends. Same as the big griddle for group or just a single stove for us 2. Thus cast iron is used mainly intrastate and the stainless interstate travels. More tools for out of state, little for local, bigger stoves for local, smaller for distance.

and then there are the stoves and bar-b-ques, I have several Webber charcoal units, lil Joe for travel, it's bigger Webber brother for at home, a Cobb cooker for slow cooking, the Can Steamer for Frogmore Stew, Blackstone griddle, 3 propane stoves(pre Blackstone days as I use it now for everything) Coffee makers, I have a 5 cup electric which stays inside camper and I also carry a stove top percolator for non electric use. I also have a 14 cup campfire percolator if needed, it has never been needed in 6 years but it is nice to look at, all chrome and shiny, from Cabelas.
All of this stuff will now reside in the garage now that the mower and snowblower are going into the he-shed with all my hand tools. I'm giving up a larger 8x10 shed which Noelia is making into a she-shed with all her garden apparatus. Our "stuff" has exploded over the past 15 years since my retirement.

I used to store xpens and the popup on the cargo rack but I took that off- not needed to reduce tongue weight now or for space, and makes more room in the garage not to have it. But now they have to go in a better spot. And most of the trailer stuff stays in, but I have a lot of Dutch oven stuff that I don't take all of all the time, so what I take goes in a Rubbermaid. I also have cooking stuff in a Rubbermaid but I often take it out at the end of trip to more thoroughly clean things. But the truck is where chairs, xpens, popup, will now go. I've only done one trip with it and that was the end of October when I still had the cargo rack on.
But I love the idea of having all those things handy in a shed so will have to think about putting one in. It would make forgetting something much harder to do.

Ha, ha, the roof is in place and so is the snow blower and lawn mower. Tomorrow we start on the garage organizing.

Ugh, trying to stow the cushions for the large dinette since I keep a mattress there permanently instead. I have them in a plastic bag all taped together but need to try to poke it up into the rafters or hang it in a corner! This may require a failure of social distancing so someone can push it up to me on a ladder. Or stowage in my Mom's basement until that time. Not a thing that needs to be moved again until I sell the trailer but I do want to keep them in good shape.
