If you use dry lubricant spray, it does not attract dirt and it dries rather quickly (less than one minute). But even better, keep the ladder in a storage bag and dirt/grime cannot come in contact...

Myron, I have a 10-foot Extend & Climb ladder that always goes with me on a trip. Yes, in the past I have borrowed a ladder from someone in a larger trailer but ladder availability is NOT guaranteed....
