Not exactly my idea of the Chesapeake Bay or White Sands. People can go to the same place and come away with very different ideas of it.
And I try not to associate Clint Eastwood with the Bridges of Madison County (Iowa)! Just had their bridge festival and people still come from all over for it.

Yes, sir....that is it.
We ended up spending a week exploring both units. Had never heard of the park before Craig found it on the map. It was a wonderful piece of serendipity.

For the fishermen today, someone please try to identify the two walleye in #195 and #199. As I hinted before #199 we drove by today and if you look in the background you can see a bridge, an international bridge.

#195 is at Garrison Concourse Wayside Park, in Garrison MN. They call themselves the "Walleye Capitol of the World."
Interestingly, #199 is "Willy the Walleye" at the International crossing in Baudette MN. They also call themselves the "Walleye Capitol of the World".
So which is the real Walleye Capitol?

I took some photos there on the inaugural trip with my 19 in June 2009.
This pano is a whole bunch of photos stitched together.
Here is a link to the photo in its original size. Kinda kewl to scroll back and forth on it.

Neither one...I believe they're using the wrong spelling.

Here's one. Lots of hints in this photo, but I scribbled out the name of the place for obvious reasons. And yes, that's a hitching post. Cowboys ride in on the two wheeled horses, but also on the 4 legged variety.
And another shot -- of the other entrance to the same place. This time the 4 legged horses ran off the 2 wheeled ones.

Exactly right, Miz Donna.
Your neck of the woods.
I first saw this in the movie "The Goonies" way back when.

Big Walleye
Adrian,
I thought #199 was at Baudette but wasn't sure. About 40 years ago I was into walleye fishing in Minnesota and had fished Lake of the Woods a couple days. Whenever we came across one of the giant concrete fish, I'd climb about and Rita took my picture. Walleyes, Northerns, Muskies, a bluegill and Babe the Blue Ox were all "fair game". Lake Kabetogama had a nice Walleye too. I was always looking for a giant Flathead Catfish but never ran across one. Hope you are feeling stronger every day, say hi to Beth, don't eat too much Halloween Candy.
Dave

Hi Dave you are correct Baudette it is we passed the walleye today as we returned from our son's place in Thundar Bay. Shortest route is south of Lake of the Woods crossing from ON into MN for 45 minutes then into MB. Yes I am feeling better every day. Thanks for asking.
