I have never used a take down list in a trailer in over 30 years of owning one. I guess we just know what needs to be done. We both have kinda set routines to take care of things and a trailer walk around the last thing we both do right before pulling away.

Keeping things as simple as possible is a priory for me.

Same here, although I have a 4 page packing list used to start a trip. Since it is usually a 6-7 month trip of 7000 + miles, I don't want to forget anything.

I admit that I referred to the list less as time passed. I don't carry it around, but I do scan it and always do a walk around or two.

I walked past ours twice. Will probably do so again before the day is out.

Day 5

Day 5 in our new 5.0 (Hobbs) and loving it. Everything seems to be working. Today was from a favourite spot "writing on stone" Alberta, tonight Moose Jaw and tomorrow Winnipeg.

We did a quick and dirty understair storage mod. Just two pieces of 1/8" plywood mounted vertically which divides the space into three sections.

Cleaned the tar spots off of the wheel wells, on the shaded side of our 21NE. It is a little hot here again today. I'll probably go out tonight after dark with my headlamp on to do the other side that is in the sun all day.

Yes! My table top does the same thing. When I rotate the table top 180*, the fit is perfect!

We do that as well, Jon. Ours is two pages with two columns of categories per page. We do go through it on every trip, but most things are just instantly crossed off as they stay in the truck or trailer, but some special items used only on the odd trip are really nice to cover.

I'd like to try that too. Did you walk around your trailer or just past it? Did you inspect the windows or check to see if the tires were still on it? TIA

I go out every day to visit her. Check to see if the AC is doing it's thing. We have had some brutal heat this summer and the AC has been a blessing.

So you run the a/c when the unit is not occupied?

Yes it has been in the 110° + here in Arizona. I set the thermostat to 90 and it keeps it from doing any heat damage. I also put a 5 gallon bucket of water in the wet bath to try to add some humidity. We run below 10% humidity in the summer here. This will be our last summer in this miserable heat as my husband is retiring in March 2023.

What is the original post? It may help me with a table problem - I foolishly ordered a U dinette in my 2019 E19. As installed by Escape, it is inaccessible on the driver side (Twiggy might get through!) and the table area is limited. I can live with the inaccessibility, but would like a table that extends to the back of the dinette. Ideas, anyone?

Hi Farmgirl,
This is in reference for when the table top is placed in the down position, on the rails of the side dinette benches. The tabletop only fits “perfect” when it is oriented correctly on the rails. There are rail gaps when the tabletop is placed with the wrong side facing forward!

Installing slide out shelves in our 5.0. We discovered that it can be hard to see what's stored way in the back when the pantry is full.

Installed the counter extension that we hadn't noticed missing on our Build Sheet.

new light

We got tired of fumbling for the incredibly tiny rocker on/off switch of the ceiling light in the wet bath, especially when coming in from outside with dirty hands. I was reluctant to add an automatic light, since many of them are way too bright. But this one, however, is perfect. Takes 3 C-cells and is motion activated. Can be set to only come on in darkness or whenever motion is detected. We removed the small jumper to have it come on whenever we enter. Thought it might be too "glaring" when entering at night but it's just right. Ignored the provided screws for the mounting plate and attached it with strips of VHB tape. Easily removal for battery replacement. Oh and it's waterproof too.

Added "furniture sliders" to the awning support bars at the mid-hinge of the arm. With tree droppings and debris often collecting on the awning, I noticed the knuckle getting dirty and dragging the fabric, especially at dusty campgrounds. Attached these sliders with a square of VHB tape, enabling the awning to retract more easily.
