Our 19' batteries were, of course, in the box. I thought that they had had them in the front dinette bench before "The Box" that they later developed and I guess that they are doing that now if no box. Paul said that they were on the tongue at some point.

I believe that ETI made the shift to having the 19' batteries on the front of the trailer to improve the weight distribution and keep more weight on the tongue. Apparently that decision was reached on the basis of at least one incident where an improperly loaded 19' had stability issues while underway.

That is what I thought and I think that it was more than one (with low tongue weight.) There were people showing up at rallies with very little tongue weight. And full fresh tanks.

After posting our loooong build list, we are rethinking the solar panel and inverter. We travel with a Honda 2000 generator because we must have the AC in Texas and along with the double batteries, I think we should have sufficient power. Our current Casita doesn't have either solar or an inverter and we don't miss them.

Nice thing about solar is that you are much less likely to piss off your neighbors due to running a generator constantly. There is nothing like a constant influx of generator fumes and noises to bring unrest to a formerly idyllic campsite.

The problem is that so many gen set owners don't consider other campers, only their own wishes, and run them at any hour of the day. Not that there is a good time, just some are worse than others.

Just last year at a music festival, a motorhome by us fired up his gen set at 7:30am right next to a group of us (15' away) sitting around having our morning coffee. My buddy stuffed an apple in the exhaust, killing it. He never did figure out why he could not get it to run. We did offer to make coffee for him, as their 120V pot would not work.

Seeing most Texas folks say A/C is a necessity, I would assume then that when boondocking, everyone is running a gen set though, so they would only have each other to bother. If I was in that heat, I would be looking for hookups, or I would die.

I have AC of course, and I think it's a no brainer for Texans, but we usually only run it during the hot months - say, May through September. The rest of the time we're fine without it. And, just speaking personally, we much prefer camping in Texas from October through April, for many reasons, not just the weather. I hate generator noise with a bloody passion, so maybe that's part of it.

Ditto that, especially as most are simply watching TV anyway

I have a Honda 2000 generator that we got for the Casita just before we decided to sell it and order a 21 ft Escape. We never used it. Now I am wondering if it would be strong enough to start and run the AC of the Escape 21.

Yeah, I am another Texan who doesn't like to roast.

Willing to share your build sheet?

Yes it will, but you will likely have to disconnect your batteries while running so the entire juice goes to your AC. (Switch below dinette seat). I think it has enough extra for essentials like your fridge and the water pump while running your AC.

Both of those items are exactly what we did because we wanted a convection microwave which was too large to go in the original microwave cabinet. And Linda absolutely wanted a flush mount cooktop. Also, we had them move the original microwave cabinet down under the closet instead of above it. We'll find out Monday, Jan 30th how it all looks/works out.

Curious as to which flush mount cooktop you got. We got the Suburban.

Dave

I think that's what we need to do: order a convection microwave and have it placed under the cooktop. Not concerned about the cabinets moving. Thanks for your input.

Cslcs - We also ordered the Suburban with glass top. We hardly ever used our cooktop in our last trailer (2003 - 23' Outback) unless I made pasta.
