Titan XD, but not necessarily diesel (the XD came in both gas and diesel), had this in-bed hitch available. There are even kits from aftermarket hitch supplier to mount rails for a fifth-wheel hitch using the Titan XD's factory ball and safety chain anchor points:

This sort of adapter could be used with the Andersen rail-mount frame, but the Andersen "gooseneck" version without this sort of adapter would be simpler.

Unfortunately, I doubt that the Nissan OEM under-bed hitch is available for later retrofit, but it's worth checking if anyone has an XD without it. It almost certainly won't fit the regular (non-XD) Titan, due to the frame difference which Tford mentioned.

Thank you so much! My husband has talked to the folks at Byerly and he and my son are going to drive there to get the hitch. It should be a nice little trip for them. We so much appreciate your help and it puts our minds at ease. Rhonda

There is a great BBQ right down the road from there, 44 at 141, Sugarfires.

One could even stay at the Drury Inn hotel, it and Bob Evens and a few other spots are 100 feet away.

Drop off you truck, take an Uber to your hotel and enjoy the trip.

I would suggest you have them not just show you how to install the adapter but have you do it yourself hands on, they have a many on the lot you can demo. The bolts that need torqued, chains, push cable all of it. When you pickup it will make all the difference, they will have no problem taking the time to show you.

Hello Uncle Tim,
We are picking up our 5.0 in October. My research led me to your posts about your hitch install for your Tundra. I have 2015 Tundra. I liked your system and went about researching the compatibility of the firestone airbags and the BW gooseneck Hitch. Etrailer said the systems were compatible. So I purchased the systems. However, I see that the airbags and the BW hitch brackets both use the same hole in the lower frame leg. This seems that it might be a problem because BW uses a grade 8 bolt to attach at that point. The Firestone bag uses a hollow bolt that doubly serves as an air in-feed to the airbag. So, I asked BW if they are compatible and they said "No"... using the firestone airbag bolt is not a tested scenario. I am curious if Trademasters installed your BW hitch and airbags so that they share the same lower bolt and if so.... have you had any issues? Hope you can help.
thanks

When we purchased our 2019 F150 I asked Truckin' America to install my rails 2" closer to the tailgate. I now easily have 3-4" of clearance and it opens at most angles.

We've pulled our 5.0 with the 2019 F150 around 15,000 miles so far (18,000 with the 20150) and it pulls great. It's also easier to walk between the rear of the camper and tailgate to get from one side to the other.

Enjoy,

Perry
How much clearance do you have between the corner of truck bed and trailer frame when making sharp turns?

First of all I don’t make sharp turns with the tailgate down. The tailgate is never down when I’m driving the truck. I can easily make a 90 degree turn without the corner of the truck hitting the camper, probably 8-10” of clearance. At >90 degrees the cab of the truck will hit the camper first and that’s never been needed.

Enjoy,

Perry
