Got my Tow Vehicle
Spent a good part of the day today at the Ford dealership and came away with a new TV. Been debating between the 2016 Ford F150 2.7L Eco and the Chevy Colorado Diesel. Main reason i was interested in the Colorado was the diesel. After checking both of them out we just liked the F150 better, mainly because it has much more space and love the sweet back seat that folds up out of the way leaving a large flat floor for hauling camping gear you don't won't to put in the truck bed. The F150 will be a great vehicle for both towing (torque) and everyday running around (gas milage). This is my first Ford ever but am really impressed with all the features it offers so now that we got that done we just gotta wait our turn for our trailer and it's going to be a while.
For anyone looking for a TV I would highly suggest that you at least check out the F150 Eco's. When the 2017 arrives in a month or so the 3.5L Eco will come with a 10 speed transmission. I though about waiting but it was more than I really needed to pull an Escape 19 so we took advantage of the end of model year sales.

That is one thing about buying a new trailer. In a lot of cases you have to go out and get a new tow vehicle also. And then all of the accessories for both. Loren

Donna, you got it in one!
I would tell my dad, "You spend your money, because if you don't, I will. And I won't spend it on things you approve of!" He'd laugh!
Unfortunately he didn't really pay attention, then it was too late. I'm not going to make that mistake.

Did you get the trailer backup assist? Has anyone tried it? (Just curious.)
I was just looking at my two neighbors who have nice shiny Ford F150s and wondering about them.

I taught my kids a very important lesson.
It's only money and you can make more.
Man can they ever spend money.
Eat your dessert first and don't buy any green bananas. There's no pockets
On a casket and the Brinks truck ain't gonna follow you to the cemetery.

Yes, it came with that option. Don't have a trailer to back up to yet so can't comment on how wheel it works.

Amen.
While I believe in being financially responsible, I also believe in work to live, and not live to work. At some point you're supposed to enjoy the fruits of your long labor. How many times have we seen on the forum, folks who said "some day" and then waited too long to do the things they really wanted to do? I can think of 3 or 4 who purchased an Escape for instance, only to not be able to use it for health reasons. Life is short. I don't want to go to my grave thinking "I wish I had done that earlier".

ditto-ditto, re: Amen... "...I don't want to go to my grave thinking "I wish I had done that earlier."

Hi: Iowa Dave... Everyone at the Funeral Home was shocked to see the casket packed with C.Notes. Just before closing the lid his new wife took out all the notes and replaced them with a post dated Cheque. Alf

You inspired us! Bought an F150 yesterday at what we feel was a great price. We started out wanting a bare bones truck but at that price were able to upgrade to the 4 door and a few other features too. For sure we got the hitch assist and backup assist and are looking forward to trying them out. Probably won't be for a while though, but will report back when we do. Never thought I would own a truck, but now I'm pretty hyped about it!

Yes, end of model year, plenty of rebates/incentives to go around. That's why I decided to go with the 2016 as well. As far the the F150 2.7L eco don't think there will be much changed when the 2017's show up. What matter's in the end is that we find something we like at a price we can afford and it can safely tow our trailers. Enjoy your truck.

Jill, you're going to love towing with the F150. Such a capable vehicle, and pretty darn efficient doing it too.

We also just bought a new tow vehicle... Got a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder with a whole 120 km on it. New for the price of used. Towing capacity is 5,000 pounds.
I like that it came with factory installed hitch and wiring. We'll figure out what to do to move the brake controller over from the Ford Escape (3,500 towing and did us just fine with our 17B) It will still be my daily drive despite having 238,000 km on it...Doug rides his bike to work so the Nissan won't get a whole lot of miles on it.
Picked up the car the day before we left for a month in Europe so have barely touched it. We were going to be looking at cars when we got home and had intended on a Highlander.... Even well used ones were crazy prices. My two sisters each have 2 Nissans per family and one has an older Pathfinder and uses it for towing a rather large tent trailer..... So I presume we did okay.
This month driving a little 2 door Opel.... Nice little car and gets in small parking spots!

I thought the limit was 5000 for the 4 runner same as the highlander? I just looked it up but I was looking at a new one. Is it higher for the older ones? Just wondering because as I look at moving to a bigger trailer I was looking at Toyotas that could haul more
