New tires- 15A
I need to get new tires. Ideally I'll go to Les Schwab as nothing else is close by. Does anyone know if they carry a suitable replacement tire?
And should I replace the spare? I don't think it has ever been used.

I'd keep the spare as a spare but have them check for dry rot or other issues.

The easiest approach is to get any brand of "trailer" tire, in the original size (which is 205/75R15). Yes, Les Schwab (and essentially any tire store) has those.

Thanks to both,. yes, I got my Campster tires there, though I forget the brand. I'll go with whatever they say is good.

The reason to replace the spare would be a concern with age-related degradation, unrelated to use. On that basis, you should keep the newest tire, not necessarily the one mounted on the spare carrier. For instance, if you have already replaced a set of tires but not the spare, then the worn tires which you are currently using are newer and perhaps more appropriate to keep as a spare than the current spare tire.
Whatever approach you take, if you find yourself throwing out an unused tire just because it is old, you have demonstrated why the tires should be rotated in positions so that you get some wear out of all the tires that you buy.

I'll bet they recommend the brand which is most profitable for them.

I used Maxxis tires on my 17 (3 sets over a 90,000 miles). At that time switched to Goodyear Endurance. I now have a 21 with Endurance tires.

Maybe, but when I asked a few years ago they told me my tires were fine and I didn't need new ones. Definitely not profit-oriented there! But they probably won't have a lot of choices.

I’m a Goodyear endurance fan would not knock another brand as I’ve been Goodyear for the past 7 years on two Escapes. I do a 5 Tire rotation and wear out the spare rather than let it age out. Have about 40,000 miles on the Endurance we got in August 2017. Thought I’d have to replace them as I’d planned to go to Osoyoos, and two other camping trips by now in 2020. The way it’s looking it’s probably going to be next spring.

Brian are you sure they are 15”? Bobbie has a 2011. Earlier Escapes were 205/75/R14. Not sure when they switched to 205/75/R15.

We had a 2010 19 ft Escape. It had 14 inch wheels. Can’t say about the 2011s.

Sorry, didn't look at the year - they've used 15" for so long that the 14's don't come up very frequently... but yes, they used to be ST205/75R14. Of course in this case Bobbie can just look at the existing tires to confirm. Fortunately, the 14" size is common, too.

My 17B that I picked up in July 2008 has 15" tires. It was optional.

205/75/R15 Goodyear Marathons
But.. cannot find an age code. Here's the DOT info: all letters. No numbers. I figure they have to be 6 years old and more like originals (9 years) so will get new ones anyway. Warranted for six years.

Okay- they have Carlisles in a bias ply can order radials
Can order Goodyear endurance
normally stock Towstar (which I've never heard of)
asked if the brakes are 10" or 12" and I have no idea- but I'm sure someone here does. They order on Tuesdays so if I call tomorrow with what I want they can get it.

TowStar is the Les Schwab house brand of travel trailer tires. I have them on my Scamp. When I bought them, I knew I was staying in the PNW to camp and there's a Les Schwab on every corner. I didn't want to get in a pickle where I'd need to mix tire brands.

Oh, good point. Not what they put on my Campster but that was awhile back. Were you happy with them?

Yes. IF my circumstances stay the same... PNW travel only, I'll probably do the same when it's time to replace tires on Ten Forward.

You can go to California- now lots of Les Schwabs there, too.
