Side mirrors- suv

I bet I’ll need side towing mirrors on my 2014 Explorer towing an E19. It’s about the same as a Highlander in width. Anyone have insight on this?

There are add on towing mirrors that attach to your existing mirrors.

"add on towing mirrors" at Amazon

Yes....I was asking if it’s necessary by someone who’s ran without and with.

For instance, I don’t see evidence of any in this photo. That Apex Nano is 6” wider than an E19.

We run Milenco Grand Aero add on mirrors on our Highlander towing the 21 Escape Classic
Though you can possibly “get by” without them, they are a significant improvement that allows lane changes more safely etc. I the lip on the mirror frame must set far enough off of the mirror
For the tightening knobs to crank down. It would be good if you could try one before you buy. They are around $100 a pair and you need two. They will fit the 2018 Highlander when accurately positioned and work well but in truth fit the 2012 Highlander mirror frame a little better. Get mirrors you won’t regret it. My opinion

Yeah...I’m sure. I do like to be able to see. Thanks!

It's a law that you be able to see from 33' behind the driver to 200' back in adjacent lanes.

I have these which were recommended on this forum and I like them. They are easy on, easy off, very stable and non damaging. I have an F150 but I should think that they would also have for other vehicles as well, I bought mine on Amazon. Brand is CIPA

One thing I like about the Milenco is that I can adjust them and the electric vehicle mirrors independently. Can you do the same with CIPA?

Yes, the vehicle mirrors adjust independently (they are electric) from the extended mirror. The extended mirror is manual and does not change when you adjust the vehicle mirrors.
I think that is what you asked? The CIPA mirrors slide into the same position when installed and usually there isn't a need to adjust the manual ones although last time I did twerk the passenger side a hair.

My Son’s got those on his RAM, he liked them too. I’m just going with a rubber strap and clip type. We’ll see how it goes ( probably vibration to the max)

Sure, but that pic is a little deceiving. I don’t adjust my mirrors where 30% of the mirror is taken up by my vehicle. A Defensive Driving Course showed us that within the first 5 min of the course. But I certainly get your point.

It's simply a matter of my shifting the point of view so that my camera and I don't appear in the mirror, but the trailer does. There are three mirrors in the image, covering a wide angle of views.

Glad to hear you took a course.

I have never towed a 7’ wide trailer, that’s why I asked. I have towed an 8’ wide travel trailer, you certainly want to use tow mirrors with that.

I’ll have to experience this myself and get some inexpensive mirrors. Most 17-18 foot boats are 7 1/2’ to 8’ wide. I don’t think I’ve seen extended mirrors with those.

We have some CIPA rubber strap type mirrors. They work just fine; no appreciable vibration. Each time we install them we just make sure the rubber straps are cinched up to the right rib before stretching and hooking them.
Got the super deal on them: a K-mart was closing shop and clearing all shelves.

We have a Honda Pilot the same width as our 17, so we don't Need the mirrors, but they give us a greater range of view.

In 1997 I bought what looks like the "CIPA 11950" to use with a Jeep Grand Cherokee, after three other SUV's still using it on my X5. It's a bit of a pain to adjust but it works. Keep in mind that the e19 is not very wide and you might do just fine with the factory mirrors on your SUV.

Glad to hear they work and hold up. I ordered the same ones last night. Thanks.
