Just came across this news about Ford Lightning recalls, and thought of this thread—might interest the battery-powered vehicle fans:

I don’t dispute the F-150 Lightning fire, as I have also read that from other sources. And after noting the phrase “climate alarmist” and reading the “about” information on that article’s publisher, I would definitely suggest verifying any article from that outfit from at least one other source.

Please, be careful not to make this thread political. Thanks.

I have done extensive reading on climate change and have my own opinion which I would not share on this forum. The article linked in post 61 is over a month old. It refers to an event which took place in February and at that time I read number of articles on this particular fire. Ford did stop production. Fires can happen and they are difficult to put out but fires happen to ICE vehicles as well especially if involved in an accident.

indeed, I lost track of how many older VWs I've seen burning to nothingness on the side of a road, fully engulfed in a gasoline fire. Don't see it so much anymore, but thats mostly because there simply aren't that many air cooled VWs left running around.

Escape forum

Aren't 1/2 or more of the posts on this forum about things that went awry with their trailers? Even some smokers, with the stove issue and recall.
Stuff happens. All the time; some of it not so good.

And yes, the VW Beetles. Going home from work once, I pulled over to watch and admire a buddies VW go up in flames along side the highway. No help was provided by me, nor could I, even if I wanted to.
KAPUT!

Government data show gasoline vehicles are up to 100x more prone to fires than EVs

Surprising difference in occurances.

I was curious, and saw this. Fact? I don't know.

All of the gasoline-powered car fires I've seen (and a couple I've put out) have been minor, and I suspect that's the case with most. The lithium battery-powered fires seem to consume the entire vehicle every time. Manufacturers are recommending you do not store your battery-powered car in an attached garage, and some apartment buildings forbid them in underground garages.

Buy them if you want. I like ICEs.
