Gelcoat color match

Watching this forum for years before creating an account, and buying an Escape nine years after visiting the factory, I’ve seen posts describing ways to match small gelcoat damage.

The most common recommendations besides buying gelcoat from ETI appear to be:

1. Rust Oleum Ivory Bisque
2. Krylon Dover White
3. Krylon Ivory
4. Marine Tex

I have some fiberglass cutouts from ETI. Keep in mind, I have a 2021 trailer. At some point before that with older trailers, ETI had a different color gelcoat. Maybe someone here knows when the change occurred. These cutouts have not been exposed to weather. They are close to factory new in color.

My take, in person, is Marine Tex is close, but not perfect.

The paint colors do not match the newer gelcoat well.

This was a very quick test. I did not try to finish anything off. I was only checking colors.

I used Marine Tex filling & patching some screw holes on the roof of a 1996 Casita that once held an awning. Although you could, with careful examination, see where the holes once were, the color match was pretty good and the material did it's job. If you're looking for perfect, go with ETI gel cost. If "pretty good" is good enough, it may work best in inconspicuous areas.
