What brand of brakes did you use? I see that the Etrailer brand is half the price of Dexter. Both are highly rated. I am thinking that the upgrade would be a good idea.

Bought Redline self-adjusting brakes, EB01-108-RH and EB01-107-LH from Redneck Trailer for 48.17 ea. in July 2020. They're now $75.05 ea.

When you type in Redneck Trailer supply it opens up Dexter and the banner says:

"Rockwell american is Now Dexter" and "Redneck Trailer Supplies is Now Dexter"

They still sell the other mfg. parts- at this time.

Can anyone verify if Dexter part numbers: ‎023-468-00 & 023-469-00 are the correct self adjusting models that would fit our 2017 21? Thanks!

Yes, they are the standard right and left assemblies for the Torflex #10 axles rated to 3500#. I think most places like etrailer will also sell them as a set.

In case you are not aware...even though they are self-adjusting you do still need to do an initial adjustment.

Etrailer is a good source. They also sell a house brand of self adjusting brakes that is a $ savings and in my experIence are of comparable quality and identical to Dexter.

I believe that would be the TruRyde brand. Good to know that you think the quality is similar to Dexter.

These are the brakes I was referring to. Not Truryde, but the basic house brand. Truryde are probably good too.

Good to know there are options. Not sure how prevalent it is but there are several reviews that state that these do not self adjust properly.

We have true NEV-R-ADJUST brakes. Once a year, or 10,000 miles we take our trailer to our trailer guy and he adjusts the brakes. Brakes shouldn't really be adjusted for up to 20,000 miles anyway, unless you don't know what you're doing.

Our Lance decided to adjust each brake differently, creating a bald spot on one tire and another that didn't adjust. These are just cheap adjusters, not to be confused with the ones on your car.

My trailer guy won't install Dexter's ALWAYS-ADJUST brakes unless you're willing to accept his work without his warranty. They weren't on our 2003 Bigfoot, 2018 Escape 5.0, or our current Bigfoot. I don't want them and he won't support them. He has the same opinion about Dexter's EZ-GREASE BRAKE PADS.

When we leave his place we have a 10,000 mile warranty on the bearings and brakes. At 74, with my back, I no longer pack my bearings nor adjust my brakes. For me, it's worth the money.

Food for thought,

Perry
