No.

Some judgement and care is required. And how much does the 10 year old weight?

It's really not necessary to walk on the roof to put on a cover. But if you do put him on the roof it's probably best to put down a piece of rigid foam and try to keep the weight over the areas that are over the bulkheads. The areas right at the edge are also strong enough to kneel on.

Thx Ron, the adco video does show a man on a motorhome. Probably a stronger roof. This one gets unrolled on driveway, folded in , rolled back up, then rolled out on roof, sides rolled over the sides, then strapped on from down below.

Ron's answer is precise, and correct. Fiberglass trailers do not have roof framing per-se, but have well-placed bulkheads to keep the body shell, as a whole, rigid. Here's a build shot showing the body with glassed-in cleats for attaching cabinets, etc.:

I put the cover on my 19' last weekend by myself. Took about 10 minutes total. Key is to fold it up carry it up a stepladder and place onto the centre of the roof, and finally unfold it into its final and correct resting place. If you fold it properly in advance, it is simple and easy.

What Dave said! I put my new ADCO cover on a few days ago, with no problems using a stepladder.

Despite the fact that our Class C allowed waking on the roof, I always i stalled the ADCO cover by myself using ladders without getting on the roof.

Doing any work on the roof?

I lay out scraps of carpet and lay 2x4's or 2x6's and lean over onto them. I never stand. I only lean from the ladder.

My old cover I could put on with 2 people and 2 big brooms.

I have the ADCO "Olefin HD Designer Series Travel Trailer Cover Up To 15'". Fits my 17B reasonably well. I'll post a picture later today.

We had two of us on the roof of! 5.0TA replacing the air conditioner (under warranty) with no problems. We were careful to not step in the very middle.

Here it is, tucked in for the winter. I got it a little lopsided when I put it on - practice makes perfect, I guess.

I deliberately put mine on lop sided because having it that way allows the roll up part for the door opening to be as high as the top of the door.
