There is a Mississippi River Fiberglass Escape Rally coming up the last weekend of Sept. Will just be getting back with the new trailer and probably heading to northeast Iowa for the grain harvest. If the dates mesh, I will try to swing by. Judging from all of those great pictures, those rallies look like a lot of fun meeting fellow Escape owners. Loren

A smokey Osoyoos sunset
This is the fire just to the west of Osoyoos. Its now basically one ridge north from the #3 highway that some of you might have taken to/from Vancouver to get to the rally.
This is from my condo's beach, not the campground.

When at the Roots & Blues Festival in Salmon Arm last weekend, a heavy smoke haze hung over the town. A big rain Friday, and again Friday night, cleared that up, and I am sure dampened a few fires. Let's hope for more rain in some of these other areas.

I just read the headlines and part of article (will finish it later), so I don't know all the details. 3 firefighters just died while working the fire in Lake Chelan (WA). Just horrifying, to say the least.
There are a ton of fires going on in the West right now and not enough resources to work them all, so they're letting many of them just burn. Our military base south of Seattle, as well as the National Guard, is supplying personnel to fight some of them. They're even asking for help from as far away as Australia and New Zealand.

Same for Canada; it's a reciprocal aid agreement. Assuming that forest fires are a summer phenomenon everywhere, it makes sense to me to bring in help from the opposite hemisphere, which is in the opposite season.
