Hey Tom,
Eric has a good idea there. I will leave an extra chair by the fire, and a cooler. If you get in late from the rehearsal. I'll talk Eric into putting a couple brews in the cooler. I'll wake you first thing in the morning on my way to the shower so you can get on the road to the wedding festivities. Later in the day when you get back I will sing a couple lullabies so you can get some sleep in your chair. Now that's camping with friends.
Dave

Well, Eric and Iowa Dave,

Your problem solving schemes have great merit, and I've thought about attending earlier in the week, but the wedding is in downtown Chicago, and I sure do not want to be driving & towing in that traffic. We're taking the train in from the 'burbs actually.

Do leave a chair and cooler behind each night.....you never know what can happen and change.

We've got that all covered with you leaving the trailer at the rally and just driving back and forth. Dave and Jake will take care of Lefty for you! And I'll keep the cooler filled...

No worries

The cooler and the chair will be fine. All the people who might do something dishonest stay about four miles up the river in quaint facility called The Crowbar Hotel. They listen to music created as the wind whistles through the ribbon consertina.

I have never seen a rally thread with so many entries. You have set a high bar. I'm expecting a rally as entertaining as the rally thread.

Yes a good group of people to know and see, occasionally. My problem is the date, there are 5 rallies in 5 weeks in September/October within a days drive. Algonac, Mi which is really an interesting CG, Alf's Niagara, same water different locale, Mississippi, LBL which is supposed to be nice and Hatteras Shores rally. The only one I have not been to is LBL but I'm leaning towards Niagara due to it's proximity and to see Alf.

We will only be participating in 3 rallies this fall. First the River Valley Egg Rally in AR, then this one and finally the Pineknot rally in TX. The River Valley Egg Rally is the only one we have previously participated in. But last year we dropped in on (crashed) the Ohio Fall Gathering for a night on our way from the River Valley Egg Rally to see Niagara Falls.

This is for self preservation that they set the bar so high. That way when they fall down drunk and can't get up, the drinks are out of reach.

Well, now that you have backed out on us on attending and since the rest of us are such moderate folks, we can lower the bar.

I never backed out, still hope to be there next year. Pretty sure I do nothing to raise the bar. LOL

You know the nicest things to a guy. A young whippersnapper, I'll take that any day. I may lose that description with my birthday later this year though.

The furture

Hi Jim
I went to what was billed as an inspirational motivation talk once. The guy was doing all right up till the end, when he closed with "Live every day as if it were your last, and one day you will be right" kinda gets a guy right here. Off to buy a sacrificial anode. Hope I last longer than it does.
Dave

Well, he was right, but I hadn't heard that end to it before. Make sure your anode is a virgin, or the trailer gods may be angered.

After the first years rally we had to ban fish stories, there were so many tall ones it smelled like fish in the campground. The second year we banned lies and half truths. The result of all this was those activities moved to the forum.

I am interested in hearing about carp fishing. I have to ask now since it will be frowned about at the rally. I wonder if one cooks or smokes carp? It is the local delicacy you know. As are catfish. I was up river a couple of years ago and they were catching carp by the garbage can full. Actually they were not full because then you couldn't lift them

6 days seems like a long time at my young age. Probably holding or for at least 65 for CPP, we'll see.
