Site 29 available for rally (April 6 post.)

Unfortunately we will need to cancel. We bought a new home in Sequim just up the road and the way things worked out with the moving company conflicts with this rally. I am canceling site 29 for 5 nights, April 23rd through April 28th.

Here is a schedule of planned events. Subject to change- I know some people will miss Monday and some will miss Wednesday, but wanted to be able to include as many as possible. Sign-ups for the Fort Casey tour can be done by replying here or at the campout but max is 20 people.

Fort Casey 22 Rally schedule

We will have a schedule posted at my site, 16, on a whiteboard. “Traditionally” we have had various people volunteer to host for an evening fire, Tuesday and Thursday are open for that. Watch the board for other impromptu events.

Sunday night: hello campfire, site 16 (Bobbie) if not too windy or wet! 6:30PM.

Monday 5 PM Potluck
- We will try for a potluck this time! I picked Monday because most will be here and some people may want to prepare a dish at home. If you aren’t up for potluck just bring your own dinner and join us. Weather permitting, site 16. Bring your own utensils, chair, etc. We’ll have one picnic table but if anyone has an easily moveable table we could probably use one or two more for serving.

Tuesday 2 PM Fort Casey tour limited to 20 (please sign up) This will involve walking but probably not stairs unless we have fewer than 10 and can go inside. (They limit it to 10 in the fort but can do the tour with up to 20 if we stay outside.) You are of course free to go in on your own before or after.

Tuesday night is open. There will be a place to sign up to host a campfire or supper gathering if anyone wants to volunteer.

Wednesday morning TDA, Dog off leash walk at Greenbank Farm (you don’t have to have a dog but it helps if you at least like them!)

Wednesday 3 PM Camp Dutch Oven cooking. I have a couple of extra camp ovens and am happy to help anyone who is interested in learning how to cook/bake with charcoal and a camp dutch oven. (Let me know if you need to borrow one.) If you have a recipe for a favorite side or dessert, we can adapt it to a DO. (Almost anything, anyway.) We’ll make the sides for

Wednesday 5:00 PM, dinner on a stick! Campfire/grill provided, bring something to roast and your own stick. Some sides may be provided.

Thursday is open for those staying over.

The Lighthouse is open Friday-Monday for tours.

Hi Bobbie et al!

Last week, I got a reservation for site 7, coming Sunday and leaving Thursday. The request for cancellation systems really works!

Yay! So glad you are going to make it. As you and I both know, weather predictions don't mean a lot around here, but I'm glad today is the windy day- maybe we will luck out with calm winds.

I'm actually heading out early (well later today but early for the rally). Sunday is now supposed to be the windiest and possibly wettest but our weather up here is not predictable enough for that to mean a whole lot! If it IS true, we will probably want to move Sunday night's campfire a bit earlier and maybe to a more sheltered site, if someone volunteers one.

Don't sweat the forecast, though, if you don't like it it will be different in five minutes.

Just a heads up to those coming through Mount Vernon.

Tulip Festival Traffic is still happening. So there might be congestion between Conway and Mount Vernon. All back roads from Conway to Hwy 20 could be effected.

Best route from I 5 is exit 230. Once you turn towards Oak Harbor from 20 it should be ok.

Plan accordingly.

It was backed up to south Mount Vernon at 5 pm today.

Unfortunately it looks like I may not make it there for this rally, due to trip plan changes. Before I do an official campsite cancel...is there anyone on here who wants a site for the rally? It's site 18, arriving Tues and departing Fri, let me know!
