Getting a back splash depends on which countertop option you order on your build sheet. Some will come with a backsplash and others don’t. When we ordered out trailer the countertop we selected doesn’t come with a backsplash. We decided we will add one ourselves. Probably use a stick on stainless steel from Home Depot, similar to what we used in our home.

WE are having this one installed: Whitehaus WHND1913 We saw a pix of it and like it..the thing is you must specify where you wish the "soap shelf corner" to be..we opted for that corner to be at the left rear. Also get the 'grid and basket' which fits inside.

I forgot where we ordered it from.....I just took the info from a copy of our 'build sheet', so sorry, no link. Be sure to indicate where you want that 'soap shelf' ..we have ours in the left rear corner, and also ordered the grid and basket to fit. FWIW

I'm curious as to where the left rear is located. Is the sink north /south or east/west installed and the rear would be on right side, regardless? Seems to me rear is on the right side?

Imagine in yer wildest dreams, yer new E21 arrives in Sumac WA from Chillimac. You walk in and look at yer new galley..which has a beautiful "special-order" stainless steel double-sized sink. It sits there, gleaming..in the forward area of counter top [near the trailer door]. You R proud.
You look DOWNWARDS at it and.... dadgummit you realize you 4got to tell the crew at ETI to align that daggummed sink, so that the soap shelf is in the passenger-side corner [nearest the trailer door & faucet thingie]..wh is where you wanted it, but there it is..alligned so that the dadgummed shiny soap shelf.. in the midships, aft corner near yer right hand pants pocket . ..darn it. It is confusing. Really. Was for us at first. Hmmm..still is, so I will hereafter try to reference things as forward or fore, aft, midships, inboard and outboard , starboard and port, as fits, and so on.

Or, orient as "facing the sink" the soap shelf will be in the rear left corner of the sink. That soap shelf would be a good place to hole saw a spot for a built-in soap dispenser.

Backsplash
I prefer no backsplash to the tiny one they put in. And you can add what you want. I like the sticky tiles but am also thinking about painted pegboard so I can hang items or metal for the same reason.

You're just joking but for us, as life long sailors, everything is port or starboard whether it's backing into a spot or marking pieces of a mod.

Nope..this old Navy vet uses Driver side and Passenger side as our 2 basic "directions", via walkie-talkies..in case cell service sux, wh it often does. while backing into camp sites. I will try to use port & starboard, fore and aft in my description of placement of goodies in the TT in the future.

I've tried using port and starboard, but I always have to convert in my mind. Port is four letters and so is "left", port is left. Right has more letters than left and so does starboard.
It's worse than metric.

Funny - that's how I learned to remember them, too, when I was a kid. And the same way, "red" (port color) is shorter, "green" is longer. Also, as a kid, I was drilled in the phrase "red-left-port".

Yes, that is when it starts to get confusing, depending on which direction your are headed. Similar to Canadian Thanksgiving http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f4...tml#post311487

Yup - which is confusing, of course, because "red" is "left/port". Sigh

As a newbie sailor it was "left is short and so is port"

Only in this part of the world. Do that in other places and you won't be entering a harbor.
In my case, racing big boats in close quarters, the call of "Starboard" is firmly etched on my mind.

Same trick to teach kids how to set a nice American or Canadian holiday table: the 'fork' is to the 'left' of the plate cuz they both have 4 letters. 'Knife' and 'spoon' are to the 'right' cuz they all have 5 letters. And now I will remember that 'port' side is to the 'left'..., thanks gbaglo! -Bea
