I put an induction cook top in our kitchen a couple of months ago, and my wife is delighted with it. However, on reading the fine print, I have learned that the induction tops have a life expectancy of about 10,000 cycles. If you use the stove top four times per day, that works out to about 6.8 years of use before failure. Not a deal breaker, but worth keeping in mind.

No problem regarding stoves in the Escape, we use the gas when needed, but most often cook outdoors with the Coleman camp stove. Life is best when I don't obsess over the details.

We've had ours 10 years and had to have the touch keypad replaced under warranty. The reason was people were mashing the surface and deforming the little sponges underneath. You only need to mildly touch the control button area.

as long as you get an induction cooktop with variable wattage settings you should be fine. This is good video explaining them

I do have a variable one. I can set it by temperature, wattage, or type of cooking. Waiting to get my trailer to try it out here at home before going on the road.

an add on to my previous post -this induction cooktop has 15 preset power levels, from 200w to 1800w so you would want to experiment as to which level would cook and still draw an appropriate amount of power for your solar setup https://www.amazon.com/Secura-9100MC...NsaWNrPXRydWU=

I supplied an induction/gas combo cooktop to ETI. To be able to use it or my microwave or Breville countertop oven I replaced the 1500 watt inverter with a 2000 watt. ETI put it on a breaker in the main panel, not in the inverter subpanel but with my new power center and future plans that will be easy to change IF I want to.

I have both a Duxtop professional 1800w induction cooktop and a 1800w Breville air fryer toaster oven. We do however have three lithium batteries and a 1500w inverter. Both of these appliances can be used at any wattage level and the 1500 watt inverter can handle brief 1750w startup watts. I use either one of them boondocking.

Just now ordered one of the duxtops.

When we installed a complete new kitchen a few years back ( my house is older that I am) we went with the induction range. The salesman convinced my wife it was the way to go. I didn't have an opinion and wouldn't have mattered if I did.

She's gone now and I really like it since I've been the one using it. Never thought about a portable. Just another BIG plus from reading this forum!

To add to previous comments, induction is far superior to gas in my opinion. More precise heat control. Instant on/off and change in heat setting. Faster heat time. No fumes or excess heat in the room. No open flame, so much safer, especially with children around. After three years with induction we will never go back.

We bought a cheap ikea brand for 50.00. It lives in a bin with some butane cooktops we use out side. Particularly useful for heating a large pot of water for pasta. Fits right on top the existing cooktop inside. I may upgrade to the commercial version referenced in one of the above posts for a better build quality. We like it.

We have induction cooktops in our home and I absolutely hate em......can't believe they use them for camping....no they won't run on batteries....I find them very difficult to control the heat.....there's a reason restaurants use gas.

We found the exact opposite, so each to his own.

That is the model we wanted but Escape would not install it. It would have been perfect.

Am using this 1800W Double Burner unit in my van build. Just did a stress test using it with a Goal Zero 3000X at 82% SOC and it did great! GZ has 280AH Lithium with 2000W Pure Sine Wave inverter. The True Induction is compact at 20.5 inches in width.

If you boil/cook pasta/spaghetti, generous serving for 2, what's the SOC after?

Just trying to get a feel for a typical (for me) cooking event.
