New 5.0 Coming to Texas!
Happy New Year Yall! We are Jim & Sharon Driesch from Pearland, Texas (just outside of Houston on the side side) and we have a 5.0 Escape on order for delivery on June 28, 2013. We owned a 30ft Mobile Scout when our son was small back in the 90's - sold it when he quit going with us in order to pursue other activities (boating, fishing, cars). We bought a 17ft Casita SD little over a year ago when Sharon retired - selling it to go a little bigger with the 5.0. (We love road trips so much we are planning on extended trips when Jim retires.) There are actually 2 new Escapes with delivery dates in June 2013 coming to Pearland! Our great friends Steve/Jodie Lowe have ordered a 19ft Escape for delivery on June 14th. We look forwarding to "Escaping" with them and all the great people we have met so far through the Molded Fiberglass RV group. Any recommendations/modifications/suggestions as to trailer configurations/delivery would be much appreciated!

Congrats on new 5.0, maybe Tammy can hold your unit for 2 weeks and have both delivered together. That is what she did for us, between the 2 units we saved $$$$.

Actually that is what will probably happen. We have requested to have them delivered together to decrease expenses.

Congrats to you guys. You will be very happy with your new 5.0 when you finally get to use it.
Have your read/searched through a lot of the older posts? There is a ton of great ideas that others have done for modifications to read about. Any further queries you may have about stuff, feel free to fire away, lots of good opinions available on this site.

Jim,
Congratulations on a great decision. You will be pleased with the experience with the team at Escape and the quality of their craft. We recently took delivery of a 19. Ours was outfitted well, as a consequence of input from this forum. Two recent threads have lots of pictures and suggestions on options an custom modifications.
"If you could design my trailer" was what we used to gather suggestions. You will see several pictures there of the options installed
"Modifications to my 19" is another great thread. Lots of good thinking and photos too.
Loads of other good threads. Plan on several hours spent on this Forum. Well worth the time.

Don't forget to put your pin on the Owners Map! There's a thread on this forum to show you how to do this. I don't think that there was a purple when a site team member put my name on it but that's the color for an owner-to-be. (Mine is green for a 15 but the signature advises that I won't get it until May so green is fine with me.)

Vicki -
Could/would you pass on the measurements for the small "corner" cushions that you made to keep the dinette cushions organized into a "u"? I would love to make them as well!
Thanks!

What's in a name? ...
Recently my husband Jim was surfing the forum & found that there was another "Escape Pod" trailer/member, previous to us. Pooh, we thought we were being original! In order to correct our mistake (& adhere to the principle that every trailer needs a unique identity) we have decided to rename our trailer the "Texas Compass Rose", referring to the navigational compass & the "Yellow Rose of Texas". Now we couldn't grow roses if our lives depended on it & our Escape 5.0 will certainly not be yellow, but we do have rationale for selecting such a name. Jim was a Navy Vietnam veteran & served as a navigator aboard a DLG. Like all good Texas school children I danced to the "Yellow Rose of Texas" (Texas folk song) in a Kindergarten recital; it was quite a memorable event! Believing strongly that "Changes in Latitudes" most often bring about "Changes in Attitudes", we are excited about our new name & look forward to navigating our Escape to many adventurous locations/events!
Please tell me that there are no existing "Texas Compass Rose"s out there!

I like the name you've chosen and haven't heard it before. But, if you liked Escape Pod... how about "Escape Pod - Texas Edition"? Alf would be flattered. After all, imitation is the best form of flattery!
