New Guy in Florida

Greetings to all, thanks to Jim the ambassador in St. Pete. Signed the build sheet the first day after the winter vacation. We have been pop-up camping since the 70's, with a 69 cox trailer. Set up and tear down became more involved than we wanted so our new addition will be a 17B, pretty much with all the bills and whistles, sorry I meant bells. These groups are fantastic as many of my decisions have been persuaded by forums. Our build date is, was 4/22/22 haven't heard any news yet but I really did not expect anything yet. I am going to pick-up at Sumas and my future questions will be routing back home to Sarasota Fl. either going down 101 to California or Rt. 2 East. Have to work on my personal info, I am Stan, my wife is Suzanne. always trying to look forward, Thank you

All the best. We picked up in Sumas around the same time last year. Also drove down on 101 a ways.

Our Sumas pickup this past November was interrupted by nature (flood) so we ended up picking up in Blaine.

Because much of our trip was under monsoon conditions, we decided against putting our heads down and getting home ASAP (northern California) via I5. We wanted to experience some of what we use campers for so we hung a right at Astoria and headed south on 101.
We continued on to US1 down the California Coast before turning inland and pointing toward home.

The Pacific Coast is pretty incredible.

I picked up in Sumas in April 2014 and spent two months wandering around out West before coming back to my home in the Florida panhandle. I had a great time.

What I would do IIWY FWIW IMHO OMG:

If you'll be heading out of Osoyoos, shoot down 97 to Omak, then 155 (a great stretch of roadage) over to Grand Coulee dam, stay on 155 to Coulee City along the Columbia River (Steamboat and Sun Lakes Dry Falls State Parks), then pick up Highway 2 to Spokane and stay on 2 through northern Idaho all the way up to Bonners Ferry and over to Glacier NP and Waterton Lakes NP, then there are a whole bunch of options to cut down to 90 or 80 or 40 or 10, or stay on the small roads.

Of course, the Oregon Coast is exceptional and beckons loudly.

Makes me want to hitch up and head out. Love planning other people's trips...
