Were you all this nice before you bought your Escape?

I’m overwhelmed by how great every reply to every question has been. I’m not sure I’m a good enough person to own an Escape trailer. Here’s hoping the trailer makes the man.

Thanks everyone I really appreciate all the helpful advice.

Interesting question even if tongue in cheek...I think several factors are at work. One, people who appreciate quality even at a higher price often tend to be thoughtful and yes, nice people. (Not necessarily if they just think they deserve the best of everything and can afford it, but people who make a choice not to put cost first.) Two, people who participate in the forum tend to be people who like to help others and are not too quickly annoyed by questions. Three (this is somewhat tongue in cheek) there are lots of Canadians!

Yeah, we even tend to offer more answers than you have questions sometimes.

Everybody I know, who has an escape, needs to fix or improve things from time to time. And they ask for help or ask “for a friend”. This puts us all in the same boat and we don’t want any part of our land yacht looking like the Titanic. We have to get by with a little help from our friends. Many people have helped me in the ten years we’ve had the Escape. And I thank them.

Hi Ron
Remember that bumper sticker from the Hippie micro bus days?
DON’T LAUGH, YOUR DAUGHTER MAY BE IN THIS VAN!

When my wife’s dad saw my 1950 F-1 with the Flathead V-8 as we loaded the box and headed out on a 1700 mile journey the afternoon of the day we got married he said, “I’d bet on you about as far as Gillette, Wyoming but after that I’m not too sure. Off we went. Four days later we were in Idaho and he became a believer. He’s gone now but 53 years later, I’m still betting on myself and my child bride. Don’t do much double clutching in the mountains any more though.
This was where we ended up, spotting forest fires, making huckleberry pies, eating grouse and trout. And the other stuff young married people do.

I wasn't, still ain't, but I'm working on it. It's a 12 step program for me, and I tripped, early on. And I'm still struggling to get up off the floor. Someday. Hopefully.

For my wife's father it was my loud MGB and long hair. Plus the fact that I was stealing his daughter, I guess!

Were you all this nice before you bought your Escape?

I've often asked myself the same question. Having never owned a travel trailer or even a truck, the thought of purchasing both, much less learning how to operate all the systems in an Escape, would have overwhelmed me. With this fantastic group of people willing to help others out, I'll be making my deposit within the year. Just a few weeks ago I purchased my TV. This groups conversations have even helped me decide to retire a couple of years earlier than originally planned. Can't wait to meet you in person!

A buddy of mine had that same Honda 90. And one night he and I snuck into a bar when we were both underage. Needless to say we got ourselves quite drunk that night and even though he shouldn't have, considering our condition, he got us both safely home on that motorcycle. But I do remember that it was quite a wild ride.

Never did it again

If you live anywhere near the Clearwater River we will actually schedule a date! Not a date, date, you understand…. My wife has her crossword puzzles to exercise her mind, I have 5th wheel trailer hitches and angel of departure.

Several Clearwater Rivers in this great country. The Middlefork in Idaho starts at the confluence of the Selway and Lochsa rivers in North Central Idaho. The Clearwater in Minnesota is another Clearwater River. I think there are others. I’m just familiar with those two.

We do live just down the road from the Clearwater River here in central Minnesota.
It's a small river (43miles long) that passes through Clearwater Lake and enters the Mississippi where the small town of Clearwater is located, not to be confused with the small town of Clear Lake which is on the western side of the Mississippi. Though I'm not from Clearwater, MN, one of my grandfathers lived here as a young boy and the other passed through here often. I couldn't help but grab the screen name!
