Received a phone call from Escape today

To my surprise I got a phone call from a salesman today asking me how things are going.
About 16 months ago I got cold feet and asked for my deposit back on the 21C we had been on the waiting list for 14 months for. During that 14 months there were 3 price increases and the price of delivery had nearly doubled. Suddenly our dream trailer had gone from $32k to $45k, gas was on the rise, and the price of tow vehicles was exploding.
I calmly explained to the salesman that the price increases had pushed the cost past what we were comfortable living with and that we ended paying $8k cash for a 2014 Tab CS that we ended up loving despite it's shortcomings. We no longer sleep on the ground and get 18 mpg towing with our Pilot.
He was pleasant enough but I think it's an indication of where Escape is at right now. Prior to covid Escapes were the best values in the industry,
now they are a premier trailer at a premier price.
We've only seen a handful of Escapes in the wild here in Wisconsin and it always makes me think "what if".
Anyway, I still stop by this forum occasionally to see what's happening in Escape world.

So your bio is wrong with a 2023 Escape 19?

You're welcome to hang out here. We LOVE camping pictures of great places and if you want to share those... I wouldn't complain! I need to live vicariously with some travelers.

Hey, you want to go to Alaska?

Sorry, the deposit was originally for a 19, we changed it to a 21c after touring one at an ambassadors. Guess I forgot to update my profile, it is now up to date.

Your profile still says you own a 2023 Escape 19, but you own a 2014 Tab CS?

Having the wrong info on a signature is not a federal Crime is it? Lighten up man, the world has bigger problems for you to solve.

To the original poster: I can easily see why you changed your mind and I’m glad you’re having some great camping experiences in Wisconsin. There’s a lot of pretty country there.

Yep, I can sympathize. New ones became too dear for me, too. But I was still set on an Escape, and I found a pre-loved unit I could afford. Glad you found something that you can enjoy and use.

Ok, got the profile updated correctly this time. I actually looked at the classfieds here yesterday and while some of the newer used ones were still pricey the older used ones might be something we would consider after retirement.

Mods, feel free to delete this thread. I think it has run it's course.
