Well it is official.....

It has been one year since we went camping, this time last year. But since then life got in the way and the trailer has sat, in the yard. Don't get me wrong, I visit it almost daily and between showing it and winterizing it and just going out and sitting in it, it has not been vacant, just not being pulled. I did not get my yearly inspection done, so $49 was saved, hoping Springtime brings new growth and a trip to Osoyoos after getting the inspection.
But I miss camping, the road trips, seeing fellow campers and smiling faces around the campfires. I'm remaining hopeful that Osoyoos will occur in May, 2021 and we all remain healthy!

Wonderful news! Glad you are almost back to camping!

We timed the delivery of our E5.0 to late May (May 19th to be exact) partly thinking of combining it with the Osoyoos meet. Not sure if it will come about (as Covid and work might interfere) but there is a chance we could pull it off as well.

Hope is the key word. At this point we're all just along for the ride.

Stay healthy.

Been a mixed year for us here, I lost my planned trip to Isle Royale because the ferry shut down. So we used the same two weeks and ran all of the toughest rivers in Michigan's UP instead. We ran the Black, Ontanogan, Presque Isle. Then I repaired my boat because the rocks had eaten it.

Sold my stick built hybrid trailer because it was falling apart. Ordered an ETI trailer, but dismayed to get a 2022 delivery date.

Oldest daughter is graduating college, and found a great job. But her job is in Del Mar CA, which is 2400 miles from me.

Now I want my new trailer, I want to retire, and I want to spend my time going to visit my kids as they move on and move out. But this is still a little ways out there.....my kids are 21, 19, 16, and 14.

I'm starting to plan for next year. I think I'll make another Great Lakes trip. Leave home in May, tour around the lakes, then go down the east coast in the fall on the way home. I don't plan on departing earlier in the year because I want to get the vaccine before leaving home.

That park is a gem, I spent a week there overseeing the install of microwave communications for my colleagues in the Park Service. However, you need to be prepared for the mosquitoes as one ranger related the story of an unprepared back country camper who stumbled into the ranger station all swollen with his underwear on his head to try keep the skeeters away. Nature bats last.

I learned from my mistakes after attending my first rally and needing to return several times to "taste everything". So, I ordered the cafeteria trays for the rally dinners....... saves time in line. Noelia has one also in the photo...

Yes Noelia has the same plate but she does not use a track type excavator to load it.
Best of luck to you Jim and Noelia as the Holidays come and go. I know we will see you on the circuit again soon. Stay in touch and let me know what healthy foods you’re enjoying now so I can bring some along. I love the Postal Service but shipping those big Zucchini and Spaghetti Squash is not economically feasible. Trucking them is though. Your friends, Dave and Rita.

Has anyone thought about a virtual gathering? It seems like there are a lot of long-time friends and camping acquaintances that haven’t been able to connect due to the pandemic. One could enlist select forum members to discuss their mods, maintenance, winterizing or other relevant topics. This could be broken up over several sessions. If you want to get fancy you can also do breakout rooms for several concurrent topics or just promote more conversation with smaller groups. A program like Zoom is very easy to use.

I have the cafeteria trays as well. We were able to use them at the rallies we attended in 2019, but they haven't seen daylight in 2020!! Looking forward to our first rally in 2021. Osoyoos in May?
