I added the EasyStart™ Soft Starter to the air conditioner on my 2012 19" and it works great with my 2000 watt SOB (some other brand) generator. The generator would not power the AC before the EasyStart was added. One of the few thing I have purchased that exceeded expectations. I found that I could run both the AC and the on-board power center/charger if I plugged in the charger BEFORE I turned on the AC. So it seems there is a large power draw on the initial start to the charger. There are numerous posts on the issue of soft start devices but I wanted to add to this thread and recommend that you add a soft start device to the AC even if your generator will work without it.
