I have a brand new never installed set of those. Let's just say that I was so unimpressed with their quality that I told ETI not to bother installing them. They gave me them and the tubes loose.
The OP asked about the Springfield base and I wouldn't worry about its' quality. But anyone with a factory base, yes, probably a good idea to put the table down given the slop in the fit.

Our standard size table in the 17B came off the cheap-o plastic slide and broke that piece as a result of a sudden lateral move during the I-40 construction near Kingman, AZ. So even if you have the Springfield that can still happen.

The Springfield is air assisted. Any issues with losing its charge over time?

Don't know who has the oldest one here, I've got 2 years on it, maybe a little less. So far so good.
I do not care for the way it is not removable, kind of gets in the way when I'm working on the batteries on the U dinette. Of course I knew that before I bought it, just turned out to be more of a hassle then I figured.

I have the two pole factory base. As long as the poles are seated properly in the inserts you should have no issues travelling with the table up. Only time I have ever travelled with the table down is if someone was using it for a bed and we never switched back to a table before vacating the campground.

Never have lowered the table but installed the locking device posted on thread . Now about 3 years with the springflied . Never thought of lowering it but don't have the refrigerator strapped either . We leave the lock on the door and never have had a problem but the door isn't weighted down either with stuff . Because the microwave is up higher have a wood bar going across so door can't open unless we remove bar. Guess we have been lucky . Pat

I'm really confident in the Springfield holding up over time and the 5 year warranty is indicative of the manufacturers confidence in their product as well. Even if it did have a problem it would still operate as the table can be locked at any position. If it lost air the table would probably just fall quickly when unclamped and need assistance when raising the table. As it is the data I found says that over 50# on the pedestal requires slight assistance to get it up into position.

Good to know Ron . The Dometic door refrigerator lock has been on since pickup in 2013 when Dave showed us there was a locking mechanism you must push down to open the refrigerator door . Pat

Yes and actually we don't even notice it because it's almost an automatic reaction.
And it's much easier than the boat fridge which had a lock pin that had to pulled.

Table always up- Springfield pedestal - u dinette. Even with the two pole system left it up, no problem . Always have it locked in position though, so it can’t move around.

No one told us that, during the trip back from Chilliwack one leg of our table came out of the floor or the table while traveling I-10 through Louisiana . And the other stayed in the floor but the table dropped behind it So we found a leg standing and one leg down and a tabletop behind it. We must have stopped shortly after it happened as the only damage was some minor scuffs in the top of the table.
We kept it down after that while traveling and since we finally found an affordable Springfield will drop it too.
