Hard to tell inn the pic but the colour is dark metallic green, with saddle tan leather interior and saddle tan rag top.

When I first got the car in November of 2007 I took my wife out for a drive. It was quite cold so I left the top up initially. Her reaction was:
-It is a bit low to the ground
-It is a bit noisy (not so bad when the top is down though, youjust hear the wind)
-It is a bit stiff (It has the sport suspension)
Then she was applying some lip stick and pulled down the visor. And she commented there was no light on the visor.

I had to explain to her this was not a Cadillac but a sports car. Having said all that she does like going on road trips in it, especially in The Rockies with the top down looking at all the mountain peaks. We did a trip one fall, it was quite cold, but with the heater on, heated seats on and a nice wool blanket she was nice and toasty, looking up at the night sky going through Rogers Pass. Was a spectacular trip

That same year my wife also received an MX5 for a special birthday.

It has a retractable hardtop which I still find to be an amazing work of engineering. Anyone who looks in the trunk would wonder where the top is stowed.

Since it doesn't tow a trailer very well it also has about the same mileage.

I previously had BRG sports cars and that was my wife's first choice. Earlier models had a green that was pretty close. She was a little disappointed that the green on this model didn't look as green. Lucky that she liked the grey with black interior. Not sold in Canada but a quick trip to Portland fixed that.

I love your sign off, the quote from Dorothy Sayers. She put some good humour into her mystery novels.

I think it was the first generation Miata that had a green that was pretty close to BRG. It wasn't offered in the first year when only Red, White and Blue were offered but came out a couple of years later. I too really like the BRG and would have been my first choice if it was available, but I do like the dark metallic green. I could be wrong but I think they only offered my colour for a year or two. I also liked the copper red they had out in 2008 but in Canada that colour could not be had with leather seats

I believe you'll find only two years offering a non-metallic color officially called "British Racing Green" by Mazda, both sold in the US and CA markets:
  • First generation 1991 Special Edition (~4000 total units)
  • Second generation 2001 Special Edition (~3000 total units)
Several other dark / similar metallic greens over the years, but I think no other non-metallics since those, and none called "BRG" by Mazda.

There's always (ahem) 'discussion' among sports car fan(atic)s about what is the "real BRG", but in any case, both of those models were quite handsome reasonable facsimiles, IMO. Both were only available with a 'tan' leather interior which is a particularly nice combination to my eye, and the 2001 had a tan cloth top which really looked sharp (if one had to raise the top).

As always, I could be wrong

I had forgotten the second generation offering BRG, but I believe you are correct in that was the only 2 times they offered that colour. Personally I didn't like the shade of tan they used for the interior those years. I think it should have had a "stronger" shade, but that is just my opinion

They also offered black interior in the second generation BRG, at least in Canada, but in my view didn't look as good with the BRG. The Black looked good in other colours, but didn't do it for me in the BRG

I agree with that, my 2001 SE interior was a bit toward 'beige' on the spectrum. But still I loved the car's appearance and driving it was outstanding 'therapy'.

It was everything my previously owned MGA's and MGB's hoped they might be when they 'grew up'.

And light and small enough to be called a Lotus Elan clone. I belonged to a car building forum and hated seeing a lot of that vintage being turned into donor cars.

I especially love the shift from second to third. Puts a smile on my face every time

Hi: Sean Murry... My shifty days are over. Driving my "Mid life crisis" VW New Beetle stick in stop n go traffic took care of it!!! My knees got older Eh? This 2020 MX5 RF. GT. is 6 spd auto w/ shift paddles. The colour brings back memories of my Gr. 7 teachers white MGA Coupe w/red interior. I'm smitten... was then still are. Love the top up. Had her out today as the roads are dry. Installed an SD card to activate the Nav. system in case I can't remember where I am. Alf

I had a 2016 Mazda 3GT with the 6 speed automatic with paddle shifters. That car was a lot of fun as well. Particularly when you put it in sport mode. Mazda makes some great ZOOM ZOOM cars. For me I still need one manual car in the family fleet.
Your MX5 has some hints of a Jaguar, particularly the rear and rear quarters. It was very nice to see when Mazda restyled this car they resisted the urge to go bigger, but rather a titch smaller.
You are going to have a blast. Enjoy every kilometre
