21C bed privacy

Has anyone hung a curtain or created some sort of divider around the corner bed of a 21C?

If it could go straight across, I could figure it out with a tension rod, but I want to keep access to the door and bathroom.

I often have insomnia and get up to use the dinette or make a cup of tea.

On nights I sleep, I'm up early taking the dog out for a walk or making breakfast.

Sheltering the bed only would make a difference.

Thank you for any help.

We haven't done it, but it's an interesting question which has come up in our household.

An angled curtain rod (they make them for shower stalls) would be somewhat difficult to support.

Perhaps you could attach a straight rod diagonally across the foot of the bed. Do you have the tall drawer stack?

Take a look and see if you can find a straight line between the bath wall and the cabinets forward of the fridge. That would greatly simplify things as the curtain could then just drape around the mattress at the bottom as necessary.

I do have the tall stack at the foot of the bed.

Thank you for the reply.

We have used products from this company for inexpensive room divider projects at our public library. The product is easy to install (you might use "L" brackets for the wall intersections - the bend support could be more interesting depending on where it falls on the ceiling), opens/closes easily and the roller options are nice (hooks or spring clips).

https://www.roomdividersnow.com/prod...32273752457297

The InterWeb returned a lot of other options for curved room divider tracks that may also provide a solution. We all await pictures of the completed solution you implement.

Yes, and the first one that I saw in 2014 was on the 21C now owned by Iowa Dave.

I forget the exact manner used but it shouldn't be too difficult to fabricate a track rod that extends out from the bathroom wall and follows the bed contour.

Don't know if Dave's trailer still has the curtain rod installed.

Well you won't have to search far. A day without Dave on the forum is rare.

The best track is one that is self supporting and only requires attachment at the ends, not one that requires attachment to the ceiling.

The original owner of Dave's trailer installed the curtain because she didn't like looking at the bed.

There are two good sources of curtain track,, wall and ceiling brackets, and sliders of various designs.

Recmar Products

and JR Products

Recmar does not sell directly, however their web site will send you to places that do. JR makes or sells thousands of different repair and replacement products for RV's and some RV dealers will keep some of their products in stock.

In either case, start with the track and then look at the sliders that fit that particular type of track. You biggest decision maker is that some track is bendable and some is not. Recmar is used by aircraft interior fitters for cabin dividers and such, but they also supply track for the RV industry also.

I have a corner bed setup also in my other brand (see signature) and I have a factory fitted curtain. Never have used it and have debated removing it and storing it away.

Just checked with Rita, the curtain and rod is in place in the 21. An AZJack original modification, we’ve left it in place. Very few days that I don’t get up before Rita so with the curtain pulled across she’s likely to stay in bed a while longer. You might say I beat her up every morning. Hmmmm that didn’t come out quite right.

We’re a little busy tomorrow but as soon as we get back home I’ll take a couple pictures and post them. Nothing fancy and not difficult to make. Has worked well for the 6 1/2 seasons we have had this great trailer.
Stand by.

It's been in place since 2014.

Nancy certainly liked glamping. Lot's of interior decor items.

A curtain

Hello Christine AKA Pacificc
As promised I ventured down to 21 this afternoon to check out and photograph our bed curtain in the 21C we have.
In speaking with my wife Rita she said her main reason for having the curtain in our case was to keep passers by from looking into the bed area when her thoughtless husband opens the door and she’s not up for the day yet. Hence the not so dense fabric as additional darkened sleeping area is not the goal. Also since I don’t pay attention very well at all, I had to learn that the curtain does not extend all the way across the foot of the bed but stops on the side of the max fan closest to the drivers side cupboards. That said here are some photos and some random notes.
1. The curtain rod is metal, with a set screw to assure it doesn’t telescope longer or shorter.
2 The horizontal length of the rod is about 40 inches installed and then the one end is bent in a 90 degree angle to fit down along the Television for about 4 inches. Then it’s tied off under tension with a bungee cord which also holds the TV to the bathroom wall.
3. The other end that extends out into the center of the trailer is suspended from a hook that’s held in place by a screw that’s the corner screw of the Maxfan frame.
4. The curtain has a couple one inch square pieces of Velcro that attach to their mates that are stuck to the trim strip on the corner of the bathroom wall.
5.There’s a fabric tie back tied in a simple bow knot to gather the fabric and keep it out of bathroom door hinge are.
6. The decorative knobs on the ends of the rod help keep it in place.
7. Large loops allow the fabric to slide freely.
8. A second short curtain could be made up to go from the max fan to to the cupboard if desired and hung in a similar way.
Here’s some photos. Additional question, let us know. Hope this helps.

Black out curtains for our Alaska trip.

We enclosed our bed in the 21C with black out curtains prior to our trip to Alaska this spring.
I used PVC pipe to manufacture the curtain rods and supported them from a section of all thread rod hanging from the max fan. I will send you pictures sometime next week. Currently we are in Florida, but heading back home to New York at the end of this week. The trailer is parked in New York.
One thing that worked really well is my wife sewed small magnets into the curtains where they met in the middle. This held the curtains together and really blocked the light.
I am like you. I get up about 3:00 AM every morning. Make a cup of coffee, read the news and go back to bed about 5:00 AM. With these curtains, my wife never knows when I'm up!

I've posted a small movie to YouTube showing the black out curtains and how we mounted them in our 21C. We left an opening next to the drivers side wall to allow for some air circulation. Even with this opening, the black out curtains created an almost totally dark sleeping compartment.
In addition to the black out curtains, we slipped some 1/2 inch foil backed insulation under the window screens and used Black gaffers tape on the top of the Max Fan hood to finish the black out.
Hope this helps.

Here is a picture of privacy curtain in my previous BF 19 trailer. BF installs ceiling track for a curtain. This bed location is similar to you 21C.

https://www.escapeforum.org/forums/m...cture3985.html

BTW, we do not have a curtain in our BF 21 & I wish we had one as my husband likes to read at the dinette if he has trouble sleeping. I do the same thing.

So this is a valuable project for you.

PS: can’t figure out how to complete download of picture onto thread. Sorry
