Saw this in an email from etrailer. Looks interesting.

I was a little quick on the trigger for that post and posted the link for the basic axle. They do axle-less setups with electric brakes as well.

Just to be clear, the brand name is "Axle-less". This suspension is no more or less axle-less than any other independent suspension... such as the Torflex suspension used by Escape.

Although the product is shown without it, as mentioned in the "Note" section proper installation requires a cross-trailer beam to structurally connect the two sides, just like the beam included in a Torflex. The only advantage is that you can supply whatever length of crossbeam you want, instead of having to order an assembly built at the desired track width.

Like Torflex, this is a trailing arm independent suspension. The Torflex pivots in rubber; "Axle-less" uses a short bolt for a pivot - way too short to be mechanically sound. I know that some people are very enthusiastic about this product, although I've never heard of anyone who has used one for a few decades and examined whether or not the pivot has become sloppy.

.
True, but the cross beam can be high up on the frame, thus supplying better ground clearance.
