Donna, when I did a similar mod in my previous Aframe, I went to Habitat for Humanity Restore where they sell "house parts" that people have donated. I think there are a couple in your area. I measured the max size door that the space would accommodate, and I had several choices of various sizes at the store, though I did have to paint it. I had the door before I decided on the exact dimensions of the hole.

Thanks BJ for the suggestion. There's a Habitat for Humanity Restore not far from me. IF I decide to do this mod, I'll check the restore, for certain

I got the switches and the LED lights from Amazon.

I wired it together, soldered as well as shrink wrap each connection. I was able to find electricity in cupboards. I have at least 10 cabinets with lights including the step storage and the front outside storage. I love the lights!

Thanks for the links to the switches and lights. Would you mind posting a picture of one of the switches installed in a cabinet? This is definitely on my to do list.

Well Vin I am camping right now, so pictures are easy. Attached are some pictures. I have installed these in many of the dark cabinets in my 5.0ta. I even have some in the step storage area. The last picture was taken from my camping spot.

OMG .... what a beautiful spot to camp. Where is this?
Also, thanks for the pictures. It helps me understand how the install will work. I'll be placing my order for the components tonight.

Be sure to post your pictures. I am always interested in seeing what others do. I always solder all connections if possible. Vibration and rummaging through cabinets can easily dislodge crimp connectors.

The last picture was taken tonight at El Capitan State Beach north of Santa Barbara.

One consideration on using micro switched to automatically turn on lights in cabinets - if you leave cabinet doors open during cold (or hot) weather to equalize temperatures between them & the interior of your trailer, they will be on all the time. I used miniature toggle switches.

I did add a secondary switch that is a toggle switch. So you can open the cupboards and turn off the lights.
