What is this U-shaped dinette you speak of?
I've seen a few references to a factory modification to the dinette on the Escape 19, most recently in DonM's list of additions for his still-being-built 19.
What is this modification? Does anybody have pictures they can share?
Is the table size reduced with this mod? Is it still the sliding table? Does it still convert to a bed as necessary?
Any additional storage under it, or any other considerations?
What are the advantages/disadvantages?
Thanks for the info!

Doug, the cushions are normally opposite each other and a U would have cushions also on the far end. This is a rather rare option but I like the idea. We saw a photo or two a while back. It seems that a couple of folks put that in more recently and maybe they will post.
Keep in mind that it will be their set-up and you can possibly have whatever you want that might be different. That would be between you and Reace as to exactly what is done. You tell him what you need for the bed or table arrangement and he will tell you how he can do it.

Actually It is the rear queen sized bed being eliminated and instead an "U" shaped dinette so in effect you have front and rear dinettes to choose from to convert to a bed, depending on your camp site. You can have the rear dinette table made smaller and a short cabinet under the rear window that has a cushion, giving you 3 sides of cushion for the "U" effect. Without the queen bed now, your under bed storage is limited to under side bottom cabinet interiors and in the aisles.
Some owners have made the front dinette into an "U" dinette, again making the table smaller(no slide now) and attaching a board across the front under the window for the cushion.
This is one of the reasons why the "19" is so popular, you have several sleeping, seating arrangements available.

Thanks, all. I think that is not an option that would work for my wife and I.

We have a 19 ft with standard rear bed front dinnette layout that works well for us but I could see that if you were smaller couple a permanent double bed in the front a u-shaped dinnette in the rear might be something to think about. I have had a nap in the front and although it wasn't bad it would be snug if there was two people who were not smaller people.

Anybody convert the front dinette in the 19' to also serve as a U shape lounge area? I ran into some folks from Colorado with a 17' who found a swivel table which allowed for it to be stashed out of the way. Very cool but I didn't get their names. Can anyone help either with the lounge idea or the identities of those nice Colorado travellers?

I got the u-shaped rear lounge (no rear dinette hardware cluttering the area) instead of the full time queen bed (still makes up into a queen bed when needed).
Added the folding countertop extensions on both sides (same as up front by the door) as a place to hold snacks, beverages, iPads, radios, etc. Have had up to five happy campers sharing that conversation pit on rainy evenings.
I sleep on the rear bench and leave the front table set up most of the time. I use a full size base camp thermarest mattress on top of the cushions for more comfort.

It is my favourite place in the trailer. Just change sides depending on the view out the windows
Next project: Get my little thin 19" Samsung TV up on that rear fridge wall.

Robert,
In the last picture, where the wall meets the refer wall, appears a loose piece of something hanging, or is it the woodgrain causing the look? Can you explain, thanks?

Actually in some jurisdictions an open concept room the size of the 19 with a convertible sofa is rated as a studio apartment. I prefer mobile bachelor pad with aluminum wheels

Are you referring to the white cord/guide for the window shade?

It took me almost two years to learn how to scale and post photos on this site. I'm just happy that my first pix featured (reasonably) clean feet. Given the nearby wet bath and all

No, it looks like a scribbly line between the wood buttons in the corner.

I'm borrowing your idea of fold up extensions on both walls. My tv is going in the rear corner with a drop down mount. Reace is locating the cable/antenna box underside of the cabinet the corner and I'm going to run 110v to the same spot so the wires and plugs will be hidden behind the tv. Depending on how well the antenna works, I might build an undercabinet shelf in the middle of rear window to store my dvd player and satellite receiver. Did this in my Casita and it worked out great. Looks very good and the tv is viewable from the kitchen area.
I found out yesterday that the tv amplifier has 2 outputs so Reace is running a coax through to the front dinette overhead cabinet and we might just have TWO televisions. Such luxury sounds awfully "Winnebago'ish"! Maybe I'll add a etched mirror of a swan and feel like I'm "luxuriating" in a 40' Sunblocker!

Do you need 110V ( full service site or generator ) to run the TV or power the antenna? I'm trying to understand.
My TV runs on 12V or 110V. The 110V cord steps the power down to 12V before plugging into the TV. I can run it on the 110V in full service site or off the battery with the 12 V cord.

And I might borrow your idea of a hanging mount off of the bottom of upper cabinet in the corner next to the fridge wall. I've been using it on its pedestal on one or the other foldout tables but putting it away for travel gets old real quick. I haven't seen any wall mounts that look robust enough to take the weight of the tv while travelling mounted to the fridge wall and I don't want to take the fridge out just to reinforce the wall..
Got a link to the mount your using for your application?
