Looks great.
Our dealer offered the Ford extended warranty and if you decline that he offers another one where if you don’t use it after 5 years you can claim 90% of the money you paid for it back. You get nothing back if you make any claim no matter how small or if you sell your vehicle before the 5 year term. Since the Ecoboost was new at the time I thought this was a good idea.

Ed I was never told about "another extended warranty" where if you don't use it you can get back 90%. Maybe it wasn't offered in 2016 when we bought ours. I didn't go with the extended and not really trusting the longevity of the Eco although I do like it, we'll likely trade not long after it turns 100k.

Nice looking Ron, I have always like the look of the extended cab vs the crew cab in certain trucks, yours included.

We've got oil changes done on ours in US and twice in ON and this week was not at our dealer as was meeting people for the day elsewhere and so took it there. It is a handy plan, but... I asked them to change the wipers too, they said they were OK and did not. I think I had them changed once. Note the "average" number of changes for the 100k is "seven" as shown on the sheet the finance manager had. Now at 62k, so I certainly won't get anywhere close. Note the agreement says they'll change stuff "if required"
My experience is different. I had my spark plugs changed by 60k, though under warranty, the this service plan. They did my brakes at 50k, and I have had a couple wiper changes, though to be honest they could use a better wiper. I have only used my dealership in town and the two in the US. Both places in the US were great to deal with, rotating tires each time too. If I want to change my winter tires out it is free with the oil change. Keeping fingers crossed for the last 40k. I plan to get all the hoses and belts done at the end of the 100k period too, along with the brakes again. Not sure where it is, but I am of the belief my agreement said any recommended servicing would be included, including all I have mentioned.

Extended warranties are offered on nearly everything these days from autos to tv's to appliances and everything in between. If I purchased the extended warranty every time it is offered, there would be little $$$ left for anything else. My solution is to act as my own insurer and cover the cost of repairs outside the standard warranty period myself. So far I am way way ahead in that game.

What I bought is not an extended warranty, I never buy those, but is basically a prepaid service plan. I did the math on just the stuff I knew I would have to do, let alone what they recommend, and it came out way cheaper. Gotta grab these incentives if they save money.

Ron, congrats! Is that a 2018 or 19? Does the rear door on the Supercab open to 180 degrees?

Ron, does the console lid lock in the UP position or do you need Gertie to duck quickly if you slam on the brakes.

That reminds me. A warning on the radio the other day from a driving instructor, for those who let their dog sit on the driver's lap while underway.
If you are in an accident that sets off the air bag, you will find puppy shreds throughout the interior of your vehicle.

Ours is a 2015 and the door opens 180. I'm sure they still do.

Further to extended warranties, the only one we ever bought that paid off was in 1978 for a microwave. They basically had to rebuild it when it died. That one was worth it

And hopefully a ticket for distracted driving?

Gertie isn't too sure about her new travelling berth but I know within a few minutes of heading off she'll be buried snugly under her blankets.

First project today is to get the box cover installed and also the hold down brackets in the box.

I have to decide if I want the maintenance package, oil changes etc. for 100,000 km for $2600. Always done my own and I'm not really convinced that I'd come out ahead. On the other hand maybe it'd be nice not to have hot oil running down my arm.

Also I'm sitting on the fence about the extended warranty. I've always declined such situations but there are so many electronic items that maybe it'd be a good idea. I'll have to sleep on it, or procrastinate, depending on your point of view.

Ron
Wow Ron nice! . If I see a see a super shiny F-150 as I’m driving down our local North Van streets, I’ll know it’s you!

I had a talk with a lady who got a distracted driving ticket for doing just this, who was livid that she got it saying that she did it to keep the dog safe. I did not know her, so told her I thought she was out to lunch with her thinking and was glad she was ticketed.

I think this is just as much of a distraction as texting. Even with hands free phone in our vehicles, unless it is very important or I am on the open road, I just let it go to message. I was finding that though I paid attention to the road okay, I didn't pay close attention to where I was going and often missed turns.

She looks sweet, Ron. The truck too.

Nothing button wise compares the the complexity of my previous 2009 Honda Pilot or our 2008 Honda Accord. Even after years of use I still found it confusing.

I really like the simple dash controls in my brother's Subaru WRX.

Exactly mine. Quite a change from my usual minimalistic vehicles.

The only thing that I found noticeably different was the feel of the electric steering when completing a 90* turn. I'll probably get used to it quickly and love it when using the trailer assist.

Wow, it does It sort of has a detent at about 45* and I hadn't realized that it did open that wide. Could be handy.

It's a 2018.

Nothing sweet about Gertie. Not a day goes by that she doesn't bite me. That after hours on my lap and treats raining down on her. Good thing that she's toothless.

No it doesn't lock in the up position. I'll get my inspection mirror out and look at the hidden hinge for the lid. If I can just remove the lid I will. If not I'll find a way to lock it in the open position.

Of course the way she self destructs at things like border stops it might be handy to keep the lid.

A reasonably productive first day of ownership. Couldn't find an excuse to drive it but I did get the box cover installed. Boy, the volume of that box, I can carry even more "stuff".

Really like the second set of cleats. They're going to be really handy to secure the misc. bins etc. So that's 4 conventional tie downs and 4 of these removable, but lockable ones for a total of 8. Didn't know they were part of the package but glad to have them.

And if you see me at Canadian Tire or Rona I'll be parked way off in the corner by myself because I'll be paranoid that someone will open their door and dent my shiny new pride and joy.

BTW, speaking of seeing, do you happen to live near a steep hill well known for its backed up rush hour traffic?
