carrying fuel for generator
Keath and I both bought the Honda 1000 generator and were discussing the associated issues.
As in, where to safely and securely store the generator and fuel for it. It will run for hours on very little fuel, but a little fuel can make a huge explosion.
I checked the thermometer in the Toad this afternoon. The trailer was closed up ( Max Fan vent was open ) and we're in a heat wave ( 83 F. here at 11pm ). Anyway the trailer interior was 96 F.
I figured I would put the generator in a Rubbermaid container in case of leaks and transport it in the shower. Problem is, I can't have the bathroom vent open when traveling. And, then there is the container for fuel, which will also vent unless you get a small aluminum fuel bottle from Mountain Equipment Coop, which would be a pain to fill.
I'm tempted to order one of those racks that goes into the rear hitch receiver. Etrailer has several to choose from.
And, while I'm at it, I assume I can just plug the AC from the trailer into the generator to charge the battery and run lights etc. I don't have to connect directly to the battery, do I? Please say I don't.
