Dometic Capacitive Touch Thermostat
Greetings to all -- hoping perhaps someone has insight:
My brother & I co-own a 2019 5.0 -- the thermostat has apparently begun to fail.
When operating the furnace, the thermostat rapidly turns the AC unit off and on – I hear the clicks in the AC unit – and in doing so turns the furnace off and on. I assume repairing a thermostat is a non-starter, so I want to install a new one.
In looking online it appears that the thermostat I have is no longer made. Dometic sent the new P/N, so I can order a new one.
Is there anything I need to know/expect re replacing the thermostat?
Has anyone else experienced such issues, and did you learn anything that would be helpful?
Thanks in advance --
DaveinDurham

Before you do that, have you checked/cleaned, and possibly replaced your sail switch, and also check the circuit board on the furnace to see if you have any pattern of the red light blinking?
Regarding Dometic, they are usually pretty good either on the phone or getting back to you via email to help troubleshoot and/or purchase spare components, or at least they have with me lately.

I had an issue with my thermostat, I first contacted Escape and they gave me the exact model number, then I emailed Dometic and they sent me a free replacement. I say why not go ahead and get that process started while you continue to troubleshoot...worst case you end up with a spare thermostat for the future.

is it turning the air on and off or are you just hear clicking come from the air condition unit? The Thermostat Control Board is usually located under the air-condition cover. its a metal box.
https://www.amazon.com/Dometic-33162...gion_id=674469
maybe check the connections at the control. The above link shows a picture of the box

Thanks folks, I'm grateful for the suggestions -- I will post a note after my brother & I have dug into it a bit -- and for sure if we arrive at a solid "solution"

2 suggestions - first, make sure the thermostat is in the "automatic" settings when you choose either AC or heat.
If the thermostat is bad, take a look at the Hutch Mountain Micro Air thermostat. Be sure to choose the correct model - they make a number of them, and also be sure to do any available updates to the firmware.

I seem to remember a setting I put in by mistake. My camper is under cover and buried in the snow so I can't check it for you. I think if the fan is in Auto the a/c unit cycles when the furnace runs. It is buried somewhere in the manual and drove me nuts until I found it....sorry I can't be of more help! Maybe others can help remember what the setting is and how to fix it...I think you need the fan in high or low and not Auto...but not completely sure.

Sure sounds like a thermostat issue, but worth checking the diagnostic light on the furnace circuit board. If you have already accessed the sail switch, the circuit board is above and to the left of it. There is a red LED that will flash if the furnace tries to run and it detects an error in the system. Usually there is a sticker on the blower motor housing below it that indicates what the various error codes are - 1,2,3,or 4 flashes.
Try turning it on again and if the furnace doesn't stay on, remove the outside access panel and check for an error code flashing on the circuit board. If the problem is with the thermostat and not the furnace, there should be no error light flashing.

Dave, check your temperature settings for AC and heating. Make sure the numbers are very different from each other. Our thermostat cycled on and off with AC when heat was set at 68 and AC at 70. Set AC to maybe 80 if you want heat at 68
