Issue with bathroom faucet/shower water flow

I just tried the shower in our new 21C for the first time. My concern is that when the rod on the faucet assembly is pulled up to engage the shower head, I get water out of both the faucet and the shower head…quite a lot out of the faucet, not just a dribble. I’ve pulled on it so hard that I am afraid of breaking it and it still doesn’t turn off. Seems like a waste of water and I don’t think this is normal but was wondering if anyone can confirm.

If it isn’t normal and we have a faulty unit, can you recommend a better unit as this one seems pretty cheap.

We had the same problem with our 21NE. I contacted ETI and explained what was happening and they sent us a new faucet. It works perfect. The other one was probably defective.
