I agree. I used a heat gun on low with a plastic putty knife to remove my King antenna. Be careful not to burn the fiberglass roof. To clean the residue left behind after removing most of the caulk, I used mineral spirits on a soft rag. Before applying new caulk I cleaned the area with denatured alcohol. As mineral spirits leave a slightly oily residue.

I also used the same procedure to remove the roof vent when I installed a roof air.

Good luck.

When we got our first Escape, the cover for the electrical cord conked out after a year or so. It was sealed down with silicone caulk. I could not see how to peel it off without damage. I warmed it with a hair dryer ( before I had my variable heat Milwaukee heat gun) and I bought a set of plastic chisels at Harbor Freight.) The varying widths allow you to get in narrow spaces and with some control they don’t damage the gelcoat. Here’s a link.

For $13 you can’t go too far wrong. All plastic, no metal. Stay pretty sharp and worked well on several lid, cover, and seal replacements over the last few years.
