Replacement cabinet hinges

Our 2021 5.0 has a broken hinge and latch on the door below the sink. Any suggestions on finding a matching hinge? Or maybe an upgrade? Maple interior with brushed silver hinges.

True. But based on someone else’s suggestion, I may go with a more robust hinge. Frankly, no one is likely to notice as long as the color matches.
I can see more of these breaking in the future. They are fine with standard usage, but the culptrit is the weak latch that lets them open during transport - and then the hinges are subject to abuse.

The same hinge broke on my 5.0. I found an exact replacement at ACE hardware. I think they are commonly available. I also fixed the root cause of failure by replacing some latches with these, below.
They are available at Amazon.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The holding tension can be somewhat adjusted, but they still hold very tightly. If there were 2 latches on a door, I only replaced one. So far it works well, but the doors take a little effort to close. Sometimes we leave them slightly ajar, and close them securely before we move.

I second what Bristol5.0 said. Our 2020 21C already has 2 replacements from Ace.

Also agree with Bristol. Escape should send you a replacement (they did for us) and then install a more robust latch as it’s the door coming open while travelling that cause the hinge to break.

Someone else in the forum had mentioned using a "Double Roller Catch" on the cabinet door and I added one to the under sink cabinet on our 5.0 to prevent the door from opening as my hinge is almost cracked through. Great to know that Ace has them though. I will check that out this week.

I also added the Double Roller Catch on the bathroom vanity. Our latest trip to Utah this year brought us through Joliet Illinois on I-80, what I think is the roughest Interstate that we have been on as well as down some very bumpy roads to dispersed camping near Moab. Each night the bathroom vanity contents spilled out and were on the floor of the bathroom.

Broken hinges and spilled contents of medicine cabinet

We have a (Sept) 2022 5.0. Just returned from 10k mile trip. Have experienced annoyances of broken cabinet door hinge, bent cabinet door roller latches and spilled contents of medicine cabinet. Found roller latches at Lowes in Brookings, SD. Package of 10 replacement hinges cost $10 at small but spectacular mercantile in Indian Lake, NY (photo). Adding small-diameter replacement bungee cord to the medicine chest has been working for keeping things things in the cabinet. Best regards, --TJD

Lowe's has the hinges. About $5 for two.

Home Depot has the exact same hinge and catch. I’d suggest upgrading to a better hinge. HD had one with the same 3 hole pattern as yiur original in white. ETI sent me a bag of hinges and latches early on as the hinges broke on the under sink cabinet on our 21 on a regular basis.

That’s what I did. Escape’s parts department sent me a new hinge as I was still under warranty, but they’ll tell you where to buy on Amazon if you’re not.

Just curious .... are folks' hinges breaking while still firmly screwed to the cabinet face, or is the breakage related to the screws loosening / pulling out first?

And / or is hinge breakage associated with doors flying open while underway?

Anyone have pics of failed hinges showing where the break occurred?

Trying to understand how / why a hinge 'breaks' if firmly attached in normal use.

Didn’t keep a picture of the hinge. I recall it was the upper hinge of the cabinet immediately below the sink. It seemed as if the cabinet’s installation wasn’t quite right as it didn’t latch as securely as others. There may have been a contribution of its attachment screws working loose, however.

Surely does underline the importance of going through the rig every so often to check fasteners’ tightness.

The same hinge on our 5.0 broke after a travel day. The door had opened and the top hinge completely severed and the bottom severely twisted, probably due to extreme torque of the open door. We had a few problems with the original latches. It seemed that the spring holding the double rollers had weakened and would not hold them up to the proper position to engage, or they would not engage the striker firmly. We replaced the latches with more robust ones (see above on thread) and that seems to have solved this problem.

Picture of hinge

I happen to have taken a close up picture with my phone so I could see it up close. Hinge screws were still tight, but the door being open during travel must pull on the hinge and crack it.
