Taking apart water pump

Hi Guys,

I am having issues with my pump not pumping. I have tried priming it to no avail. I think the suction is okay. I did have a little pine needle in the filter cap so I think I need to take off the pump and clean the bonnet (top) and refit it. I washed out the filter.

Has anyone taken off the pump assembly? I see there are four Roberts screws/bolts holding the pump in place. Do you unscrew those screws to pull the pump and then be able to get at the screws on top?

In order to take the top off, I have to take the whole pump out just to get to the screws. I would love some guidance on this before I just start messing with things.

Here is a pic. Thanks.

There is a great video on repairing a Shur-flow 4008 pump on YouTube. I’d watch that, most pumps are about the same. I have had good luck just cleaning things out with a brush. A new pump is $30/60 on eBay or Amazon. Take pictures before disassembly and disconnecting the wiring. Not much to this in my experience.

Got it! Took all day.

My check valve was shut tight and I had to take apart the entire diaphragm and force the check valve open.

Everything worked after that. I did put it on backwards but I did take a picture and just compared and then fixed it.

Problem solved.
