Then there is the "I'm REALLY Stuck" time. A time may come up, where it is just too tight, or a muddy spot , etc. & nothing will work. Many times people forget, You can unhook TV & put it in a better place/angle that you need. Hook back up. I had to do that once.

A little different than the campsite challenge, but….. My driveway is long with several turns. It was always a challenge until I decided to use my garage as part of my driveway. Instead of backing up and parking next to my garage, I now pull directly into my garage. If I want to disconnect, I disconnect with the front of my Escape just short of the garage and pull the rest of the way in. I use my other car when not camping anyway. When backing out, the extra length of the garage is all the “extra” room I need to turn the trailer around and pull out forwards. I just need to take my canoe off the car before pulling into the garage!

The only time that I have used the scoop method with our trailer was when we camped in a friends cow pasture and needed to do a lot of "scooping" to make the area amenable to foot traffic.

One common mistake I see couples make is the choice of driver versus “director”. The person who understands backing the best needs to be outside giving directions to the driver.

Many times I see the opposite, where the person driving understands the backing process while the person directing is not to sure about the entire process. I used to get answers to my question: “Is there room?” And the answer would be “Maybe.”

As soon as we swapped roles, everything improved and the tension dropped.
