Did the same looking you did, there have been some recalls on aluminum spoked wheels which have cracked but the Escape style is definitely not a spoked style. Hard for me to imagine wheels failing...

I worked as a mechanic for 10 years and have seen a lot of alloy wheels. Have to say probably more with cracks in the clear coat than not and never saw a structural failure that was caused by them.
