Supposedly you are to replace tires at 5 years irregardless of mileage. I've never had trailer tires that long.

If you consider the 21 to wear tires about like the 5.0TA then I replaced the Carlisles this spring with about 30k on them. They still had pretty decent tread but I didn't trust them for another 10k trip after having my 1st blowout in Dec.

Tires last 4 years.

But, more importantly, 35,000 traffic fatalities In US each year. (Don't know about Canada). Will driverless cars do better? (I mean fewer)?

I had a blowout In which tread completely detached from sidewall and flapped around while I came to a stop. No damage to wheel well.

This is worth reading from Goodyear, couldn't find similar for Carlisle.

Going about 60 on the highway, no damage to the trailer. The aluminum wheel got scraped up a bit.

Roundabouts are great. Much better for traffic flow than a stop sign or a traffic light. The only thing that took me some getting used to was going through a roundabout in the UK.

**telling myself, now remember, look right, enter to the left, go clockwise...lol**

Roundabouts? Yeah, Ask fire depts. what they think. Just try to effect an emergency response on a road that's too narrow, and has roundabouts that have been known to flip trucks. (see: Ventura County Fire-engineer fatality)

After all these years of driving I find them confusing and a nutty idea . How about we just go straight in a lane easy , peasy .Pat

Back in the early 1980's, I spent a month driving (not towing) throughout the main British Isle on an extended "educational" vacation with a few close family members. Most British round-abouts I remember were quite large in circumference, multi-lane, where multiple well-marked roads were merging and departing in various directions. As a tourist, the thing I learned to love about them was that if you had trouble reading the road signs and missed your exit from the round-about, you could just go around again, and again, and again, until your "navigator" finally sorted everything out and got you into the correct lane at the correct time to take the correct exit - all without every having to slow down, back up or turn around in someone's front yard. Try that at a 3-lane, 5-way, no left turn, right lane must turn right intersection here in the States with 8 street signs mounted on one post right at the intersection and not one of those signs tells you the names of any of the streets making up this intersection that you suddenly find yourself in the middle of at night with headlights seemingly coming at you from all directions. Not that I've been there.....

I remember a roundabout in Ireland it was a freeway roundabout scary because you were going so fast with several lanes of traffic and driving on the wrong side of the road. We kept going around until we could figure out how/where to get off!

Roundabouts or traffic circles have proven to be much safer that a 4 way stop, or an intersection with lights. They eliminate the chance of a head on collision, and side impact is reduced too. They also cause the driver to slow coming into them, lessening the chance of an accident, and the severity of them.

I would ask those that dislike them if they have taken the time to learn how to properly use them? As there is no stopping your time in the intersection is also less.

The single lane is simple, as stated above you just yield to oncoming traffic in the circle and exit where you need. These circles will only accommodate a moderate amount of traffic.

Two lane circles are designed for more traffic. The outer circle, approached only in the right lane, is for right turns only. This way the outer circle does not conflict with entering or exiting the inner circle which is used for exiting any other turn other than right.

Very easy and safe, thus my liking of them.

With huge rush hour volumes of traffic, lights are more effective in giving everyone a good chance to go.

4 way stops are not too bad if the volume of traffic is really low, otherwise you wait way longer than with a traffic circle.

I have never used one in the UK, which would be the same, just in reverse.

With trailer tires, unless worn out I change after 7 years, and have never had a problem. No doubt a manufacturer would love it if you bought more often. I do regular inspections of tires as they age too.

But then, I have eaten crackers (and lots of other foods) that went beyond their expiry date. What a rebel, eh?
