Hi LJY. We will be at Cultus Lake prov park Monday and Tuesday before going to the rally. We are picking up our trailer Friday, camping three days with hookups at Lynden KOA and then two without at Cultus...a lot to learn but we are excited. Are you staying in the area too?

If you're at Cultus, you ought to consider taking the short drive to Lake Chilliwack. Spectacular scenery down at the lake.

We are picking up as well and will stay Cultus Lake till the rally. So you are going over the border first? Do we need to do that before going Osoyoos?

We'll be in the Chilliwack Best Western the night of the 22nd, then our orientation is 8:30am the 23rd. After pickup, we are driving back across the border to Chilliwack to spend that night in Cottonwood Meadows RV campground. There we will try out all our systems while still close to ETI and if all is well, we'll head to Osoyoos and the rally Wednesday or Thursday.

We pick up on May 17 and will spend 2 nights in Cottonwood to set up and check out trailer plus just recuperate. From there we sight see until time to go to rally arriving on May 24. Any suggestions of things to see would be great. We are starting a list.

Manning Park, a British Columbia Provincial Park is worth stopping to do some exploring. Alternatively, you could drive up Highway 1 along the Fraser Canyon which is quite spectacular, including a ride down Hell's Gate air tram. Alternatively, you could head west and spend a couple of days exploring the Vancouver area. Then maybe drive up to Whistler then to Pemberton and Lillooet and then by any number of routes towards Osoyoos. BC is quite mountainous and this would give you a good taste of some of the scenery.

I ended up taking Hwy 1 through the Fraser canyon last week and it was a beautiful drive. I really liked the scenery up around Sikhist PP, Spences Bridge, and Cache Creek - spruce trees and sagebrush. Not much was open so we overnighted at Brooksidw RV Park iim Cache Creek. It was ok. If you take this route, make sure your driver doesn't ha a problem with heights!! My brother drove most of it...

Activities at the Rally

What array of activities is there at the Escape Rally?
We know about the Saturday night potluck.
We know there's a potluck breakfast sometime?
We've searched and come up empty about a list.

Inquiring minds, and all that! thanks.

I found this on an earlier thread. If you enjoy wine tours and getting a fantastic tour of the beautiful Okanagon area then this is a favorite activity by many

Off Leash Dog Park In Osoyoos

http://www.osoyoos.ca/content/west-bench-complex

For anyone coming to the rally I've put the link up for a fantastic off leash park. We were just there last week and were really impressed with this newer park. It is fully fenced and has running water for your pets as well as a gazebo and picnic table to relax under.

Also on one side is a great walking/cycling path and on the other is tennis courts.

Hope that this helps.

Great link Cathy, we have 2 senior dogs who get tired over the 4,000 mile trek and that parks looks inviting. Is it towards town or away from town from the CG?

As far as activities, it will take you hours just walking round the rally meeting others. In town is a great Hardware Store as well as some great pubs serving poutine. There will be scheduled tours of local vineyards as well as owners trailers. Thursday is registration, Friday there is a bottle exchange, Saturday is breakfast and pot luck dinner, Sunday is pot luck breakfast. Plenty going on....

Not to wish to appear stupid, but can you expand on what sort of bottles are exchanged please? Craft beer, wine, scotch? Just to make sure we are prepared, although I wouldn't imagine it involves Budweiser, Coors light or Labatts Blue.

Since there are attendees from all over, most bring a local brew (beer or wine) to exchange for others. Mainly craft beers....
