There is a nip in the air....

I finally turned my fans off in my house last night upon awakening to 58 degrees. I sense the season change and look forward to campfires and making chili for cold weather camping. Let's hope the heat has left the room until next year. Anyone else feel the change coming?

I'm starting to see dew on the grass some mornings, but Mother Nature is fickle. Today we'll have a high of 76F. Tuesday and Wednesday heating up to 96F. Wish we could get a good soaking rain over the next 6 days or so... sigh. Our forests are really dry and we know some nuts are going to be camping in THOSE forests over Labor Day. Be safe everyone!

Not cold enough for a nip in the air here, still shorts and t-shirt weather.

We have a warm 8°C (46° US) here right now. Have 6 folks coming over to install big windows and patio doors some weighing over 300 kg (660 lb) and I am still having to not lift a lot or do strenuous stuff. The high is forecast for 18°C (66° US), so a good day for working outside.

Pretty nice in Iowa the last couple days after some hot weather through the first three weeks in August. The apples are turning and 4.75 inches of rain in the past 10 days at our place has greened things back up and sized up the apples. The garlic is drying and Italian peppers are big and red. I can hear the young squirrels barking and the pelicans are starting to come down onto the reservoir ( Coralville). Fall cannot come soon enough for me.

Here in NorCal no daytime temps below 80 until early October. I'll be in VA next week, and hoping that the humidity isn't too bad.

Hi: cpaharley2008... When did you change your location to Chilliwack BC?
The only nip I feel is an oz. of Bourbon with a 1/2 oz. of Maple wine. Takes the chill off of anything!!! Alf

Ditto for Vegas. Best thing we can say is SOME days it's "cooler" in the AM when I put the dogs out. I'm looking forward to the cool mornings again. Summers here are far from ideal here. Fall is nice, but Spring is the bomb!

Alan, you're hosting at the Chisos Basin campground, right? Sometime when you have a moment would you let me know the numbers of the reservable sites that would fit a 5.0TA? I know there are also some in the first come/first serve section, but depending on when we are able to head out there it's nice to have a reservation because so few sites there will handle a trailer.

And after seeing your weather report I won't complain about ours!

We're seeing a bit of colour change on some trees around our area (happy to say not ours yet), our temps have been up a few, then down a few days. Still looking forward to lots of pleasant weeks before " cold camping " type days arrive though.

I don't expect any cooling off along the Gulf Coast until mid-October. It's still summer here for a while. Entering peak hurricane season to keep everyone alert.

It was 10c down here at 7 am this morning. Sounds like big progress up there, we'll wish you a dry day.

Attachment 41345 yes it is changing here. 38 yesterday morning, didn’t get above 64 last 2 days, had to start the heater this morning. Saw this yesterday as I was mowing my feed plots.

I noticed the slight weather change while walking to the coffee shop a few mornings back and thought I am not quite ready to give up shorts for the year.

I wear short maybe 8 months a year, at night I'll put on a sweatshirt but keep my shorts.

It has been a weird year in San Diego so far. We have not turned on our AC once this year. There is still time though, September is our hottest month. It feels like we are reverting back to the mean. The last 3 years have seemed more humid than usual, this summer has been quite dry.

That sounds like heaven compared to living the in humid east.

NO local brush fires yet, so it's summer.

David, Your request is quite reasonable - however any answer I could give you today will become obsolete sometime in the future. The Park is changing how the Chisos Basin is reserved and when the reservation period starts and ends. I'll try to come up with a couple of our "larger" sites - and when you decide to visit you can check on Recreation.Gov to see their current status.

For those that are not familiar with Chisos Basin CG - it was primarily designed as a tent campground. Very few sites have parking space for an attached 5th wheel. And sites that have ample parking, a shade canopy over the picnic table, some privacy, a nice view and are level, all at the same time, amount to - well - near zero. We do have a dump station but no hookups at all. Water is available to fill your tanks.
